  • brand new wheel hub is now loose?

i have a 2001 Ford Taurus that i recently replaced the wheel hub since the old one was loose. I took everything apart and bolted in the new one. I did not pound it into place or anything, and torqued everything down to spec. Took the car for a test drive and the brand new bearing is worse than the old one. I lifted the car and there was tons of freeplay in the bearings. all the bolts from the hub to the knuckle are tight and fine. Was there something i should have done to the wheel hub before putting it on? It was a Timken hub from autozone with a lifetime warranty
