So i need to solve for X (without using the quadratic formula) in these two problems. first problem: 2(x-5)^2=12 and the other problem: 3(x+1)^2=10. How do I solve for x? thanks in advance =)

Hey, I'm 16 and have been playing alto saxophone for about 5 years. A professional musician I know from my community needed a quick recording of some alto sax. The only preparation I have is that this song is in the key of E (which is the worst for alto sax because it would be transposed to C# major, which has all 7 sharps). I would love a quick response because I will be at the studio tomorrow. If you have any helpful advice about professional recording, I would most certainly appreciate it =).

I need to find out the control, independent variable, and the dependent variable of my project. In my project, i am wrapping different insulation around 5 jars, each with boiling water and checking their temperatures. i believe the independent variable is the type of insulation and the dependent variable is the temperature. and the control group will be a jar without insulation.
