  • Choose the scope for my .300 and .223 ?

I haven't asked a question for ages so here goes.

I have 2 Tikka T3's and have been stuffing around with the scopes for them just lately. I had he .223 working brilliantly with a scope and took it off thinking I wanted to use it on my .300. Now I can't decide.

So simply here are the scopes, you choose:

    4-16x50 30mm tube extended mill-dot

3-12x56 30mm tube Illuminated Red dot

    Rifles:

    Tikka T3 Lite .223 1:12" Twist

    Tikka T3 Lite .300Win Mag 1;10Twist

    Uses:

.223 is mainly used for spotlighting kangaroos and worked well with the mill-dot

.300 is mainly used for deer and other large animals.

    Thanks in advance :) Witty

  • Should there be a seperate section for air rifle questions???

I gotta be honest I have no idea what all these air rifle questions are about and think they should have their own little place so Air rifle nuts can go there to post questions.

    Any Ideas, comments, thoughts???

I'm just throwing the idea out there, don't rip my head off I'm kinda sensitive.

  • Seating Depth for .223 Tikka T3

Gday, I am just starting to reload some rounds for my New .223 Tikka T3.

I have a couple of problems with the seating depth though. I have been told and it seems to be industry practice to place the bullet out far enough to just clear the lands of the rifling. My problem is the magazine won't allow me to seat the bullet out far enough.

Measured values are a s follows:

    Factory Length: 2.260

    Magazine max length: 2.285

    Rifle max seating depth: 2.315

These are all overall lengths for the case with a Nosler 50gr ballistic tip varmint bullet seated.

So you can see quite clearly I can't seat the bullet out as far as I should to achieve the near the lands depth.

    To my question(s).

1: Does anybody out there have a T3 .223 and reload and what is your completed cases overall length

2: Will accuracy be effected THAT much if I don't seat it out near the lands?

3: I am also planning to load some 34gr varmint grenades if anybody has any data on them it aould also be appreciated.

    Cheers, Witty.

  • Rifle Ammunition Reloading Kits, LEE, RCBS, Lyman???? Help!?

Just about to get into reloading and wanted to know the best type of system I should use.

    I want to reload .223, .243 and .300Win Mag.

I have had a look at the LEE and RCBS systems and its all beginning to get confusing so I thought Yahoo Answers might be worth a try.

Basically I would be happy with a single station press but a turret style might speed things up for me. Then there's the Loadmaster 1000 which is probably over the top for what I need.

Any reccomendations on which way to go?

    Thanks in advance. Witty.

  • Why does everybody refer to a rifle as a gun??? Grrrrrrrr?

I am only new to all this but I do know a bit about rifles and guns and it drives me nuts when somebody refers to a rifle as a gun.

Could it just be bad habit?

Can anybody explain the main differences between the .222 Rem and .223 Rem rounds? and can either type of ammo be used in one rifle?
