  • The Last Legal War: Then or Now?

The last legal law was the Korean War, which did not end with any signed agreements or treaties. Should we have to go to war with N.Korea will it be a continuation of the previous war? That being asked would the U.S. still need an 'o.k.' from Congress to make it legal, again?

Do you believe we will once more war with N. Korea?

  • Already -- 2012, Down the Drain?

    And I quote:

"Her pushback against critics got most of the attention, but Sarah Palin's chat with Alaska reporters yesterday also included some other important news: She no longer thinks Ted Stevens, who was convicted on felony charges last month, should resign his post, a reversal from her stance during the campaign."

  • The Space Program Over?

Recently I was listening to a news broadcast that mentioned the last shuttle mission will be in 2010. The question was how will the new president, regardless of who it maybe, fund the program. Or is the Space Program finished? (Of course, I realize that we have many more pressing issues, so please, don't remind me! Thanks!)

Thank you for your consideration in your replies.

  • Palin the Socialist? Yes or No?

The RNC reports are showing nearly $150,000.

for wardrobe, etc... for Palin. Palin's clothing doesn't come from her pocket.. So, who exactly IS the Socialist here? (Surely, she can't be agreeing to use RNC's money... seems she will fit right into Old Washington.)

Thank you for intelligent and considerate replies!

  • Religion and the Presidency?

There has been much ado concerning Obama taking away our Right to Bear Arms. However, We, the People are slamming and rumor-mongering that Obama is Muslim. We ALL have the Right to Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Religious, and the Right to Practice Religion without persecution.

    "Bill of Rights

    Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constituti...

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States. "

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constituti...

Why is it alright for Americans to slam Obama on the Right to Bear Arms(I will uphold that Right) while we condemn his supposed Religion? Does this not make Americans hypocritical, at best?

If we expect Obama to uphold The Second Amendment, then we, the voters must uphold The First Amendment.

  • Unlawful vs. Illegal?

"ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain's Republican ticket."

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/10/lawmakers...

The question is: What is the exact difference between 'Unlawful' and 'Illegal'? Thank you.

  • Foreign Languages and Foreign Policy?

Palin has boasted she has Foreign Policy experience, and with this Im assuming she speaks a second or third language. Does anyone know what other languages Palin speaks fluently?

    Thank you.

  • Biden Unpatriotic....?

Palin assailed Biden as unpatriotic for wanting to raise taxes. Personally, I felt this hypocritical, considering she can't name any Constitutional Cases.. Isn't Palin unpatriotic for not wanting to raise taxes to pay off the debt so our kids don't have to? Palin is a millionaire, do YOU believe that influences her tax stance? Cindy McCain is worth 100million....do YOU think that influences McCain's tax stance?

  • Ayers the 60's Terrorist...?

But he is now a university professor. So, if Ayers is as bad as Palin states, why did the university hire him? If Palin truly believes Ayers to be a 'terrorist' then why has she not investigated the university that hired Ayers? Isn't she for better and safer education?

  • A Muslim President For America?

Under the U.S. Constitution it clearly states the following:

"..no religious test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or Public Trust under the United States."

So, are you an American, that supports the Constitution or are you like Bush and believe it's just a piece of paper?

  • Palin and the Aryan Nation?

There's alot of talk from Palin concerning Obama and his connections with terrorist. So here's a look at Palin and her connections: She graduated University of Idaho in 1987. Why Idaho?? Does anybody know? The U of I is located in Moscow (is that a Russian connection? Foreign Policy? *wink*) ....and at that time, also located in Idaho, that area was the Aryan Nations. Not only a well-known Racist group(is she getting a bit racist with her Obama-ties suggestions? Yah or Nay?)but a known Terrorist group. So, WHY Idaho?

Question: Are Palin's closeness with Terrorist closer than Obama's? What is Palin's thoughts about seceding? Is that Un-American?

Thank you for your thought out and intelligent replies.

  • Palin and the Second Amendment?

With all the ado over Palin and her interviews and debate Im still left in awe. First, Palin ignored a perfect opening to discuss the Right to Bear Arms, when asked about Roe vs. Wade. Now she didnt have to go into detail, but she could have at least stated she may not know of any cases, but she didn't... Why didn't she? Why didn't she mention the Brown case from Topeka, Kansas? Doesn't everyone know and understand what a landmark decision that was? Isn't that an important case to know and understand if you MAY sit in the most powerful office in the world?

I've heard alot about Spanish being spoken in America....and how proud we are to speak American. But, while watching the debate, this VP candidate chopped it up, slanged-it, and misused it like an illegal alien. (The sugar coated thoughts concerning Iraq, the economy and fuel appeared to be fun and games to Palin, I must be wrong...wink, wink) Sure, maybe some of us don't mind slang, and I don't, but my question is: To represent the most powerful office in the world, do we or don't we want our language represented properly as well as our dignity, our integrity and our Constitution? Do you agree that only with supreme professionalism we will bring back the U.S.?

Thank you for your thought-out and considerate answers.

    Anyone but McCain/Palin '08

PS. You're right, I don't like Palin. She is way out of her league. She is dangerous, as ignorance is always dangerous. We see that with the present adminstration. She needs to do what she said she wanted: Be held accountable for Troopergate, and go home.

  • "Governorship" Qualifies One for VP?

I have read several articles, statements, etc...that defend Palin's qualifications to lead due to her experience as Mayor and Governor. Our present president, George W. Bush was Governor of Texas(and Bush has 2 years more of college than Palin) With that in mind, how can we possibly believe that Palin is qualified because she has spent less time as Governor than Bush did....and we all know the mess Bush has made. Do you think she is qualified just because she is a first term Governor? 20 months as a Governor in a state that has less people than most big cities seems a far stretch for qualifying one to the highest office---because McCain's age is a strong consideration here.

Please, respectful, thought out and considerate answers only. Thank you for your kind replies.

  • Is Palin Pro-Life or Not?

The following is an excerpt I read. Now, I wonder, is Palin what she says she is ......or is she what she says, when it's convenient? What are your thoughts on the excerpt?

"If anything," he says, "she got tired of answering questions about them." Halcro recalls one debate in October 2006 in which, after repeated questions about her opposition to abortion even in cases of rape or incest, she looked at the moderator with exasperation and asked if they were going to talk about anything besides abortion. It was detracting from her new message: cleaning up the capitol.

Nor has Palin made social issues the cornerstone of her governorship. When a parental consent law was struck down by Alaska's highest court in 2007, Palin called the decision "outrageous" but refused calls from conservatives to remedy the defeat by introducing antiabortion legislation in a session that was supposed to be about drilling rights."

  • Palin Prepared to be VP?

"Babock’s mother-in-law is state Senate president and fellow Wasilla Republican Lyda Green, who fought many of Gov. Palin’s legislative initiatives and recently told the Daily News that Palin is "not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president?"

  • Bridge to Nowhere...Angry Alaskans?

This is quoted from a news article. It is not my quote, nor do I state my opinions. However, I am curious as to what others think of this picture. Thank you for your respectable, well thought-out replies.

"When she was running for governor in 2006, Palin said she was insulted by the term "bridge to nowhere," according to Ketchikan Mayor Bob Weinstein, a Democrat, and Mike Elerding, a Republican who was Palin's campaign coordinator in the southeast Alaska city.

"People are learning that she pandered to us by saying, I'm for this' ... and then when she found it was politically advantageous for her nationally, abruptly she starts using the very term that she said was insulting," Weinstein said.

Palin's spokeswoman in Alaska was not immediately available to comment.

National fury over the bridge caused Congress to remove the earmark designation, but Alaska was still granted an equivalent amount of transportation money to be used at its own discretion.

Last year, Palin announced she was stopping state work on the controversial project, earning her admirers from earmark critics and budget hawks from around the nation. The move also thrust her into the spotlight as a reform-minded newcomer.

The state, however, never gave back any of the money that was originally earmarked for the Gravina Island bridge, said Weinstein and Elerding.

In fact, the Palin administration has spent "tens of millions of dollars" in federal funds to start building a road on Gravina Island that is supposed to link up to the yet-to-be-built bridge, Weinstein said."
