  • Need help finding song.?

    I remember I used to listen to a song on youtube a long time ago but I think it got deleted because I can't find it on my play lists but I remember what it was about and some parts of some lines.

    It's a poor guy singing about a rich girl he likes and he's basically describing their differences, the mentions her getting drove to school in like a limo or something while he walked, and he mentions her learning so many languages from so many teachers while he had to wait for Christmas for a skateboard (or something like that).

  • Facebook and intellectual property?

    I'm doing a speech for school and its on intellectual property. I know that Facebook doesn't own what you put on but I remember a while back (like 2008-9) that they tried to change their terms and conditions so that they did and had a whole lot of people took their stuff down and close their accounts but I cant find any information on it. Did they do that or was it another viral scare thing. If so could someone point me to a resource with information on it, I have looked a bit and all I get are recent things and sites telling people about how the terms and conditions are right now.

  • Can someone tell me if this is water damage?

    I spilled some water on my desktop computer tower, I was playing a game, nothing seemed to happen with the game, I was able to close the game and shut off the computer with no noticeable effects, no flickering, nothing, when the computer shut down I immediately shut it down, turned it off and then turned the switch in the back off and then pulled the plug out from the computer.

    Once everything was off and I could be sure there was no power I opened it up and then started drying things, unfortunately there was some pools of water on my graphics card and power source, it didn't seem to get in it power source. As for the graphics card, there were no sounds or smells. I took a rag/paper towel/microfiber cloth to dry my card, then I used compressed air, and a hair dryer and I currently have a fan pointing at the computer with the power source is out, the graphics card is completely removed and sitting near the fan as well. In short I'm asking if anyone knows what to do to dry this better and if anyone can tell if this is water damage on my graphics card.

    Other info: from the time the water was spilled and the power was off was maybe 10-15 seconds give or take, no water seemed to get on my CPU or motherboard.

  • graphics card stopped working.?

    My graphics card just stopped working, it's an MSI Radeon 9 270x 2g graphics card, it was in the first PCIe slot, it was working for 3 weeks. The problem is its not showing anything (monitor says no signal), if I plug my monitor into the DVI or HDMI slot it just get no signal, but the fans on the card start going, if i plug the monitor into any of the mother boards back slots while the card is plugged in and powered the same thing happens but if I turn off the computer and take out the power plugs out from the card and then plug the monitor into the mother boards ports, it works (forgot to try switching monitor ports without powering down or and I thought unplugging the card while the computer was on would be a bad Idea).

    I wasn't doing anything odd/taxing on the card when it stopped working, I had elderscrolls online running, minimized while I was on firefox, I then closed firefox and as soon as I opened elderscrolls my screen went kind of pixelated (it wasn't really individual pixels, but the screen got divided into little squares and then some of the squared went all funky like when you take a magnet to an old tv screen) and I heard a bzzt in my headphones.

    In short

    graphics card in slot + powered, no ports work

    graphics card in slot - power, only mother board ports work.

    Can anyone tell my if this is fixable to do I have to get a new graphics card, please answer soon, I plan to go exchange it tomorrow.

  • How to fix boot manager?

    I just bought a copy of windows xp (I apparently need it to play some old games) and I am having trouble installing it. I bought it off amazon (link to the item: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KILB32/ref=ox... ). I didn't know until I got it that it says for dell computers only but the "sellers note" on my order says that it works for all computers.

    Heres what I have done. I have formatted the hard drive that I plan to use, its a western digital blue 500G internal hard drive, I just had windows 7 on the hard drive and moved it over to a new, larger hard dirve. Considering that the hard drive just had windows 7 on it makes me thing that its not the problem.

    Here's how far I get, I put the CD in the DVD ROM and then hit F11 to get to my bootable devices, I click the ROM and I get the message to press any key to run the disk, the odd thing is if I wait at that screen without pushing anything it goes to the "BOOTMNGR is missing press CTRL ALT DEL to restart". If I do press any key then XP starts installing, but it only gets to the "setting up windows" stage before I get the blue screen of death saying "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer...blah blah blah Technical information *** STOP: 0x0000007B, (0xF78o2524, 0xc0000034, 0x000000000, 0x000000000).

    Does anyone have any Idea what this means and how to fix it.

  • How do I play games on two hard drives with two operating systems.?

    OK, I built a gaming PC and I have windows 7 installed on my internal hard drive (this is working fine). The problem is that it cant play some older games I want to try, for example fallout 3 that I bought, so for the older games I just bought a copy of windows xp and I'm wondering how to set this up.

    My plan is to install xp on a second internal hard drive and then partition it, one part for the xp system and one for the games and have a xp/7 (possibly unix) multi boot. Would this work? would I be able to play games from the 3rd non-OS partion from both windows xp and 7 or would I only be able to play the games on the operating system I installed them with or would I have to install the games on the OS partition itself?

  • C++ difference between const char *, char *.?

    I am doing some C++ and I'm taking in a string literal (like foo("blah");) for a char array, at least that's what I think its called, our teacher makes us use c-strings for all character data types so we don't discuss it.

    heres an example of what I'm doing.

    class foo

    {

    foo();

    {i get a warning if this is the prototype)

    foo(char * name);

    {no waring with const prototype}

    foo(const char * name);

    ~foo();

    char * name;

    };

    class bar: public foo

    {

    bar();

    {warning}

    bar(char * = "a_name");

    {no warning}

    bar(const char * ="a_name:);

    ~bar();

    };

    (im main)

    bar item("the name");

    I am using the g++ compiler on an ubuntu system (not sure on the details, im using putty to connect), and the error is (without const)

    main.cpp:8:37: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to ‘char*’ [-Wwrite-strings]

    it will compile and run with and without the const but I don't know what this error may mean further down the road or what the error could mean, because I know sometimes once you do some things to a string it cant be changed.

    so can anyone help me with help me with stuff like what each one will be stored as, if both will be treated as a cstring etc. (i have tried googleing this but code doesn't search well with the special characters).

  • In C++ are NULL and \0 the same?

    I have been setting my cstring elements to '\0', I was just wondering if NULL will work like \0 when I am putting it in an array to signal its the end for reading. I know \0 is the null terminating character but do they both just have null in the name or can the both be used to terminate a cstring because it seems like it would make my code a bit cleaner.

  • How did the 12 monkeys infection start?

    I just watched the movie and I am just wondering how the infection happened the first time, or more why it happened. I get that the Brad Pitt character took it to all those countries that he was flying to (the women comments on all the places hes going when he shows her his ticket), and I understand that's how it is spread, but I'm wondering how he got the idea in the first FIRST place. I get he got the idea from what the Bruce Willis character said at the insane asylum about that maybe we deserved to be wiped out, but how does the Brad Pitt get the idea in the first place, to start the time loop? In order for Bruce Willis to say that to Brad Pitt he has to go back in time to stop the infection, but Brad Pitts character gets the idea from what Bruce Willis says when he goes back in time.

    What im trying to say is Bruce Willis is the one who gives Brad Pit the idea for the infection, but Bruce Willis would have no reason to go back in time to say that unless the infection happened, but he has to back in time to stop the infection to give Brad Pitt the idea to start the infection. Am I just missing something or is this a plot whole?

    Ps Im seriously wondering, I'm not a troll.

  • Always have an IP address on router?

    I have a fios MI424WR router, it uses a DHCP to assign IP addresses so when I turn my computer off I think it gives up my computers IP address to something else.

    The problem is with all of the wifi enabled things we have in the house It exceeds the 10 allowed by our router

    the devices are:

    4 phones,

    a tablet, printer,

    two PC's [one of which is mine, the one having troubles],

    a game system [sometimes two, i think when my bro uses the WII thats what puts us over our limit]

    DVR[also is losing its connection for possibly the same reason.

    a wifi enabled blue ray player(usually off so its rarely taking up a space)

    Everyone just puts all of their things in sleep mode and they keep control of the addresses (i think Im describing this right, I need to look more into DHCP) so when I try to get connected with my wifi I cant get on (now im realizing that I can sometimes get connected by turning off my Playstation but that means that Im one more device in the house from not being able to log on to the internet with my comp at all, also this means that I cant browse the web while playing COD on line...I probably wont do this ever but who knows I just like to know i can). It seems my computer is the only thing that has this problem, probably because its the only thing in the house that gets turned off and not just put into sleep mode, does anyone know if there's away to make sure my computer (laptop pc) always has a space on the routers DHCP spots reserved for it?

  • Why do you have to wear an apron but no helmet?

    Why do you have to wear an apron and no helmet when getting an x ray at the dentist? The x ray machine gun thing (I'm sorry I do not know the technical term) is pointed at your head, not your....lower extremities, but you cover then but not your head with the apron (that I'm assuming is lead lined or something like lead). I have just wondered for a while why you protect all that but not your bodies control center.

  • Where can I find out when to harvest pinot grapes?

    I someone I know has pinot grapes growing in their back yard and they want to make wine out of them. I have looked but cannot find anything about when they will be ripe (I brew beer so I'm going to help them make the wine so that's why I'm looking this up). Can anyone give me a source or tell me when they should be ripe. I live south of Portland Oregon so I should be on the Willamette time for ripeness.

  • Is it just me or are "snake oil salesmen" coming back?

    When I say "snake oil salesmen" i mean the people that in early America (I''m not sure about other countries) who sold fake medicine and made extraordinary claims. I'm seeing all these homeopathic medicines (don't get me wrong, I do believe that there are lots of good homeopathic medicines) making extraordinary claims. I'm into Homebrewing so I found out about Kombucha (I remember hearing that you can ferment sweet tea and i finally found out what its called) and now I have seen things saying that Kombucha can help prevent/cure cancer. I do know that vitamins and minerals can help boost your immune system and can, with a healthy lifestyle, help prevent cancer but to actually put that and other things on label's (of course also saying that these claims have not been evaluated by the FDA) isn't it a little misleading, I have also seen on this "Breath Easy tea" that my mom swears by and other tea's it says that it can help all these symptoms just becasue it has liquorice. I also hear about all these "supper foods" that "supper charge" your immune system that have little if any explanation. One last set of examples is bee stings and pollen, it was really popular a few years ago to get bee stings and to take bee pollen and these had so many claims to cure almost anything. Once again I'm not saying that all homeopathic medicine are wrong but with some of these things im just imagining some silver-tongued conman standing on his cart making his sensational claims and booking it later that night.
