Regarding Mr. Snowden...Has anyone ever read and/or remembers the story "A Man Without a Country"?
1 AnswerOther - Politics & Government7 years agoIf illegal students are allowed to remain?
Should the US government not send the bill for their education to their respective governments AND insure once they obtain their diplomas and/or degrees these same individuals return to their country of birth to contribute their skills & education in their home country? After all, California has given perks to illegal students and apparently are charging more to legal California residents. I am sure it is [or soon will be] happening in all 50 states. Charge the home country for each illegal who has deemed it necessary to be "illegal".
5 AnswersImmigration10 years agoHow can a President call his citizens "enemies" when they merely disagree with his agenda?
I was appalled to say the least and could not believe a sitting president would call his citizens "enemies"!!!
This nation is comprised of so many, many different peoples, ideas, opinions, etc. Does he expect each of us to fall in line...behind him?
If I ever questioned his agenda prior to that comment, I will most definite study it even more closely in the future. How about you?

If the oil gushes from the cavity in which it has been, what happens to that cavity? What replaces the oil? Water? Or will it collapse in on itself?
11 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoWhy is upholding US laws is "misguided"?
I truly am confused with that reasoning. Personally, I do not care what race, ethnicity, or country of birth of a LEGAL immigrant, but am extremely concerned with illegal immigration.
Is the president not undermining the US legal structure by stating such nonsense?
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoDoes Pelosi's "ruling" party truly back Obama's up or down vote?
The President stated he wanted an up or down vote on the health care bill [whatever it is] and what does the Democrats [oops, sorry] the Speaker of House want to implement? Let's push it through without a vote? I do not care who has used this ploy before...we were promised a transparent and honest government who would be honest and let everyone know what is going on? Is this what the democrats have given us?
3 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoAre you not disgusted with all of it?
Isn't it strange that our "sensitive" and "top secret" national information connected with the protection of our nation; as well as, sensitive & necessary electronic/military inventions are “leaked” to the press and other nations and at the same time both houses and both political parties meet behind closed doors? Are you not disgusted with all of it?
3 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoDid I read correctly? The Commander-in-Chief's first visit?
I read that the Commander-in-Chief made his first visit to Walter Reed since the inauguration? He resides 6.2 miles from those who have been severely and should visit much more frequently! The trip would take 18 minutes in city traffic.
He could go without press and without fanfare and just take cookies, or games or just sit down and talk with those very, very brave young people.
I have asked the same question to US Senators & Representatives...no press, no fanfare...just a visit.

8 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoTeddy Roosevelt...comment?
From Teddy Roosevelt:
There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all. This is just as true of the man who puts “ native ” before the hyphen as of the man who puts German or Irish or English or French before the hyphen. Americanism is a matter of the spirit and of the soul. Our allegiance must be purely to the United States. We must unsparingly condemn any man who holds any other allegiance. But if he is heartily and singly loyal to this Republic, then no matter where he was born,
he is just as good an American as any one else. The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle
of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English- Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian- Americans, or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality than with the other citizens of the American Republic. The men who do not become Americans and nothing else are hyphenated Americans; and
there ought to be no room for them in this country. The man who calls himself an American citizen and who yet shows by his actions that he is primarily the citizen of a foreign land, plays a thoroughly mischievous part in the life of our body politic. He has no place here; and the sooner he returns to the land to which he feels his real heart-allegiance, the better it will be for every good American.

6 AnswersCurrent Events1 decade agoWhy should Pelosi be thought of as a truthful person?
1. While it is more than okay not to respect a person, Ms Pelosi went out of her way to verbalize her disrespect not only Mr. Bush, but also the institution of the Presidency.
2. It has been reported more than once, that last minute addendums have been placed in bills brought up for a vote and even her own party is not told about it until after these addendums have been enacted a law.
3. Ms Pelosi more than encouraged the Democrats to vote for the initial bail-out for the banks, but either did not READ the bill she and those she "encouraged"; therefore, there was nothing in the bill to halt the enormous bonuses given to the upper management in those banks.
4. She disrespected the wounded military at Walter Reed by not getting in her car and/or hopping a cab [without the press for a photo op] to visit her wounded constiuents and personally find out how they were being treated at Walter Reed. [It took Robt. Gates to fix the problems.]
5. She voted to support the Iraq war.
6. She was one of those who supported giving our intelligence community less funds to operate "feet on the ground" intelligence.
7. She touted her knowledge current intelligence gathering techniques used by those who were trying anything to protect US citizens, now says she was "misled".
Give me a break, lady. Oh yeah, and felt her friends and family should ride free on her company jets and demanded a really posh plane...since she was so important to the US government? Well, no one in this World is indispensable.
How can we believe her?
4 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhat penalties are there for individuals who harbor illegal aliens in the US/?
I just read an "answer" which stated [I do not know the truth of the situation, but several others stated this] that Sen. Obama's aunt:
1. Came, and remained, into the US illegally.
2. Is receiving welfare.
3. Is residing with friends who are legally residing in the US.
If the aunt is doing the above, she has broken laws by residing in the US illegally and by receiving welfare illegally. And I assume she would have to have identity documents in order to receive welfare and those documents would be fraudulent and criminal.
Back to the original question, what legal penalties are there for legal immigrants/residents who harbor criminals? Is that also not criminal behavior that can be prosecuted?
3 AnswersImmigration1 decade agoIs the Obama organization ignoring the more important local issues?
I saw a bit that the Obama group is organizing college students to register their voting privileges in the community in which they are going to school. Those youngsters are not truly residents of that community.
It appears to me the Senator Obama is ignoring the local issues which need to be decided by local residents and candidates who are being selected to represent the local district?
How can those votes accurately reflect the wishes of the residents? Somehow, that appears almost fraudulent.
9 AnswersElections1 decade agoHave people forgotten the other political races next month?
How many of the electorate remember that the sitting Congress/Senate MUST accept a great deal of responsibility for the mess in which the legal residents of this nation find themselves?
The legislature is more interested in pointing the fingers and sneaking in their own "pork" than actually working towards what must be done to rebuild the intra-structure, to reform the immigration laws and enforce them, to protect our borders [from dangerous imports, drugs, violence, terrorism, & illegal aliens], fully support the military personnel and families, rebuild industry and manufacturing here...at home...and not out-sourcing, to support the space program AND to enforce the laws already enacted!
We, in the United States, deserve more than what we are paying for and must use the entire ballot to demand it!
Also, when will they realize that merely pouring new monies into our education systems [pre-K, primary, elementary, middle school, high school and post HS] and NOT create and enforce very, very high expectations from the parents, teachers, administration, and...yes...the students?
1 AnswerElections1 decade agoI am trying to ask the question...why?
I truly have as yet to made my final decision, but when I hear the word "racism" brought up I cringe. I want to vote on the issues...not anything else. I would assume any rational member of the electorate would feel the same?
However, when someone speaks of Mr. McCain's attributes in the media, they are named a racist. Yet, CNN had this headline, online:
"African-American enthusiasm could tip scales". Enthusiasm?
I have voted in all but one election [local, state & federal] save one since 1965. I am ashamed of this paltry excuse of the "modern" use of media in this political season. I have heard NOTHING regarding legal immigration vs illegal aliens, rational & responsible educational reforms, the elimination of outsourcing American jobs/industry/technology, or the security of our borders - not nearly only from the illegal aliens, but also imperfect, illegal imports and/or worse.
8 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat has been the role of the media in this election?
What has been the role of the media in this election?
1. The financial crisis in which this nation finds itself could not have formulated in merely the past 7 1/2 years.
2. The "mean partisan-ism" in the Congress and Senate is completely against what the legislative part of our government was designed and definitely what President Washington warned against 200+ years ago.
3. The lack of information gathered by our intelligence agencies was due to "cut backs" in government support prior to 9-11.
4. The loss of American jobs to outsourcing is much maligned, but the history of those losses has not been investigated...NAFTA? et. al?
5. The last administration has been placed on a pedestal by many due to the "balanced budget and more monies available"; yet, our infra-structure is close to failing due to decades of neglect by both the local and federal government.
6. If I remember correctly, "energy independence" was known to be necessary decades ago. Why was this ignored?
7. Why are the US borders not being fully protected from dangerous imports and possible smuggling by terrorists?
8. Why hasn't the immigration policy's been adequately investigated and rewritten, rather than amended?
Why is the media MAKING NEWS, rather than reporting it and/or investigating the issues with complete objectivity?
