  • How to request/subpoena surveillance camera footage?

The police are investigating the theft of my car. Many of my personal items were dumped on the property of a restaurant, and the surveillance cameras likely caught it on tape. The police seem to be uninterested (they have yet to request this footage), and no suspects have yet been caught.

I would like to secure this footage for CIVIL ACTION against the perpetrators of the theft. Since the investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been identified, no suit has yet been filed. How can I file a legal request for these documents from the involved restaurant?

  • reasonable price for .223 once-fired brass?

I have a bunch of once-fired .223 federal brass. It has not been cleaned, trimmed, or re-primed. I had kept it originally intending to learn how to reload. I'm moving now, so I need to sell stuff. How much per piece or per 100 pcs is a reasonable price?

  • Minor astigmatism w/reflex sight?

I recently bought (and subsequently returned) a $100 Bushnell reflex sight about a month ago. I had planned on adding it to my 10/22 or Saiga, but I immediately noticed significant distortion. After noticing the difference in each eye, I identified that the problem was my MINOR astigmatism. I was surprised, I don't rely on glasses, and only use them for detailed microscope work. My uncorrected vision is average or better, and it hasn't really changed in the past 5 years or so. When I last shot an AR with a reflex sight (an EOTech model), the reticle was crisp and easy to place on target. I can't believe that my vision has deteriorated that significantly in the past year or so.

So here's my question...is it likely that a high quality reflex slight (AimPoint, Trijicon, or EOTech) will display the same distortion, or do different sights work better for people with mild astigmatism?

  • Trail Handgun .44 Mag vs .454 Casull?

I am looking for a new pack gun capable of taking any game in the New England area, not necessarily as a hunting handgun, but primarily as defensive tool for woodland critters. I've settled on a revolver with 6" vented barrel chambered in either .44 Magnum or .454 casull. My main concerns are adequate stopping power (Moose is of the greatest concern), recoil & controlability, follow-up shots, ammunition cost and availability, available loads, and overall weight (loaded weight plus 1 speedloader). .44 Magnum seems to be the best option, but I'm hoping to use you all as a sounding board.

I've seen people buy .375 H&H's for Moose, and quite frankly I don't buy into the magnum craze. I know my .30-06 has enough power to reliably take any game in North America (with proper shot placement). That being said, my only "trail gun" is my Ruger SR9 with speer Gold dot 124gr JHP +P rounds ~ 324 fpe...I would feel more comfortable with something larger, and I don't believe .45 ACP would quite do the trick.

  • Where to buy AR-15 stripped lower?

Looking for a basic stripped lower, but nobody seems to have them in stock. Not looking for an auction site, so no gunbroker etc. Wondering if anyone has bought one recently (last two weeks) and where?

  • Are polymer AR-15 lowers resilient enough for .223/7.62x39 recoil?

I - like many of the 85 million lawful gun owners in this wonderful country - own an AR-15. I absolutely love the platform because of its quality, reliability, accuracy, and parts availability. In light of recent events, I'm considering purchasing another AR lower to be built at a later date. Given my current funding situation, It would be much easier to purchase a polymer lower than a milled alloy unit. While I have polymer frame pistols, I am a bit apprehensive about a polymer AR in anything more powerful than .22 LR. Does anyone have experience with a polymer AR in .223/7.62/6.8SPC?

  • Desktop Computer Disables Router?

My mom just got her computer back from repairs, and wouldn't you know it? It's worse off now than when she sent it in. A couple years ago I set up a wireless network in the house which worked flawlessly (or as flawlessly as one can...). Not anymore...

Whenever I connect her desktop computer to the router via ethernet cord, the router stops broadcasting an internet connection and the desktop cannot connect to the internet. The network is still visible, however I can get local access only on my laptop/other wireless devices. I've tried circumventing the router and plugged directly into the modem (which used to work on the desktop comp and still works on my laptop. I've tried disabling/re-enabling firewalls and re-installing/configuring both the router and the network connection on the desktop to no avail. I have no idea what could be causing this. Any suggestions?
