I'm just finishing my freshman year. I go to a pretty hard school, it's ranked about #11 in the country. My grades this year have been a little messy. My GPA is about a 3.3 --haven't gotten my report card for spring yet but I think it will stay the same, my math grade will probably have dropped but I've been getting straight A's in English as opposed to B's last trimester so I think it will even out for the most part. I'm on the debate team but that's basically it for extracurriculars. I'm starting to really worry about getting into college, especially since I'm not in advanced math. I am pretty good at humanities and english, I took the SSAT's last year just to be able to apply out and I scored in the 99th percentile for English, but only the 78th percentile for Math. My dream school is Stanford which according to the website doesn't factor in freshman grades very much but I still feel like I don't have a shot at getting into my dream schools with such a low GPA. How can I improve my chances in my sophomore and junior year? (I have a math tutor already.)

I know that self-diagnosing is not good in general. Also, I am young and seeing so many people admitting to me that they have anxiety or depression, etc. has led me to wonder if there would ever be something wrong with me.

However I've been really really struggling for a while with certain thoughts. It isn't just rechecking things once or twice, or being particular about things. I read an essay a woman wrote on having OCD and she talked about having really gruesome weird thoughts, violent, sexual, anything and having fears about them. The quote's too long for me to put here, but I read it and just went "that's exactly what's been going on."

this is EXACTLY what I've been struggling with. For YEARS. I often lose sleep because of it.

In addition my heart is recently always beating fast. I can't stop it and I don't know why.

I also get really upset when my handwriting doesn't look perfect, and then I try and change it but it looks worse, and I just feel really anxious. Also whenever I'm trying to format something for school I spend longer on the formatting than the actual thing sometimes because it has to look perfect. I could go on.

I really hope I don't have OCD, but at the same time, I just want to fix whatever's going on. I'm not asking for any of you to diagnose me, but what should I do?? My parents probably won't take me seriously and I'm really embarrassed too.

I've already picked my favorite girl name. Emma. I think it's sophisticated, adorable, and really pretty. Not sure for Jane or Nicolette as the middle name but I don't have to decide that now.

As for boys, though, there's literally not a single boy name I feel really excited about naming a boy. Actually, that's not true, I do really love the name Jake, but I don't like Jacob and I can't figure out an alternative besides just naming the kid Jake. I also like the name Will but I don't like William, Wilson, Willam, etc.

Then some names I like for boys are a lot more exotic, i.e. Sebastian (I'd never use it for several reasons, but whatever), Lucian, etc.

I'm having such a hard time with boy names!!! Do you have any suggestions?

I'm so sad. I did everything I could. I got 96% on the ssat. I know that might not be excellent but it's pretty good. I did a really good interview. I'm in a great school but I wanted to go to this coed amazing school so badly and I didn't get in, it's really sucky. It's the only one I applied out to. Now I just have to go to the same school I've always gone to. I was put on the waitlist but they don't have spots, they said they really wanted me but there wasn't another spot...is there anything I can do? Or should I just wait until next year to apply again?

Any words of wisdom? I'm really upset :(

I just recently started loving the name Mia, I've always liked it but never really thought about it much. I wanted to know what everyone else thought...does it have the potential to become really popular in coming years? Does it age well? Etc.

And then I was thinking about middle names. I came up with Mia Carmen and really liked it, but I can't think of anything else! I'm worried Mia Carmen doesn't have a good flow because they are both two syllables. Do you have any suggestions?
