1 AnswerPolitics1 decade agoAre Americans today self-indulgent and don't make the sacrifices that our parents and grandparents did?
Americans today are self-indulgent and don't make the sacrifices that their parents and grandparents did, and the nation's leaders don't ask people to act for the higher good, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas said Monday at a Virginia college in a rare public speech.
"Our country and our principles are more important than our individual wants," Thomas told close to 400 people who greeted him with a standing ovation at Washington and Lee University, a Shenandoah Valley liberal arts school.
I believe Judge Thomas is very accurate in his statement. What say you?

4 AnswersHistory1 decade agoWhy would Obama stop Mexican imports trucks from entering U.S. for safety reasons...?
when there are over 30 million illegal Mexicans driving in the U.S. already without being tested? Why don't we deal with the problem inside the U.S. first?
Rep. Sander Levin, a Michigan Democrat who chairs the Ways and Means trade subcommittee, said he was "disappointed that the Mexican government has decided to retaliate with tariffs against the U.S., given that the Obama Administration has publicly committed itself to working with the Congress and the Mexican government to address this and related issues."
Activists and industry associations in the United States had argued that Mexican trucks are unsafe.
"No trade agreement should obligate us to compromise our highway safety," said Sen. Byron Dorgon, a North Dakota Democrat.

12 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoCan we stop paying taxes and call it an "honest mistake"?
Dear Mr. Obama,
When you don't receive my check April 15, just know that it is an honest mistake. Please treat me the same way you treated Congressmen Charles Rangle, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank and ex-Congressman Tom Dashelle and, of course, your boss Timothy Geithner. No penalties and no interest.
P.S. I will make at least a partial payment as soon as I get my stimulus check. You guys suck!
