  • Laptop three-way decision?

I'm in the market for a new laptop. Currently I have my mind split between the Asus U30jc, the Sony Vaio Z, and the Dell Studio 15 (1558).

I'll be a college student, so it'll be the usual multi-tasking with a web browser, itunes, and a word processor running simultaneously. And I might pick up gaming again, TA & BZ 98 if I can get them to work on WIndows 7, or maybe Supreme Commander.

I'm leaning towards the Dell because I can configure it with an i5, 6GB RAM, and a Blu-Ray for cheaper than the Vaio, for about $1800. But I hear the Vaio is a mean machine, though I'd be getting the same i5, 4GB RAM, and 128GB SSD, AND switchable graphics for about $2400. I'm thinking the Asus is the featherweight alternative and cannot be configured. So probably the Dell?

    Any suggestions, ideas, etc?

    Thanks

  • Beer's Law Equation Help?

So our chem. teacher gave us the equation A=abc. Here's part of my data:

    Solution # 1

    Volume (mL) 10.00

    Concentration (M) 0.397

    Absorbance 1.950

    Wavelength (nm) 510

We put our solution in a spectrophotometer for the absorbance. And the cuvettes were 1 centimeter. How would you set up this equation?

  • How do you expand (2x-3y)^5?

    I ended up with: 2x^5 + 10x^4 - 15y + 20x^3 - 30y^2 + 20x^2 - 30y^3 + 10x - 15y^4 - 3y^5

But I'm not sure that its correct. Thanks.

  • Ellipsis & quotes?

Can you use ellipsis (...) to put a break between part of a quote and part that came befor it.

EX: the actual quote is "So important did military spending and the military-industrial sector become during World War II and the Cold War that-with space exploration as a minor adjunct-they have become fundamental to the U.S. economy, U.S. economic growth and above all U.S. technological development. Despite its often almost incredible wastefulness and corruption, this military spending has also been in some ways a kind of unacknowledged but rather successful state industrial development strategy in a country whose free market ideology meant that it could not formally adopt or admit to such a strategy."

I want to say he said "Despite its often almost incredible wastefulness and corruption, this military spending... with space exploration as a minor adjunct-they have become fundamental to the U.S. economy, U.S. economic growth and above all U.S. technological development."

    Right or wrong?

  • What do you think?

I have to write an essay on something I believe. This is what I've got. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Let me start be asking a simple question: Have you ever played a sport? I would imagine most, if not all of you, said yes. There is a reason why almost everybody has at one time or another played a sport. In fact, there are multiple reasons. Sure, there are the obvious physical and social benefits. Then there are the less advertised benefits, like learning the value of hard work or responsibility. These may be harder to see, but they hold just as much importance. I believe there are valuable life lessons to be learned through playing sports.

A popular sport in the U.S. is baseball. While everyone has a favorite team, one of the most popular is the New York Yankees. They tend to have one of, if not, the biggest payroll each year. Looking on paper, you would expect them to be winning World Series titles with some regularity. Well, they don’t. In fact, they haven’t won th

  • They aren't the same, are they?

American character is not the same as the American stereotype which isn't neccessarily the same as a person's assumption of an American's charcter. Right? They're all different.

  • Am I right?

...if I say 1:3 is the same as 1/4? Does 1:3 not mean for every on there is three? And 1/4 means there are one out of four.

So bascially if i have a class of four kids and only one is a boy, 1:3 is the ratio of boys to girls and 1?4 is the number of boys out of the whole class.

    Same(-ish) idea right?
