  • Last names to go with Penelope?

For a character I'm writing. Ones that would work with "Penny" are also much-appreciated.

    Bonus: names with Irish origin

  • Can you name this character?

He's an edgy, rebellious type who goes to an upper-class, preppy New England boarding school. I'd like to give him a "proper"-sounding name that I can invent a little family history for, but also one that I could come up with a short, less-traditional nickname for.

  • Can you name this character?

He's around 14-16 and tall with dark hair.

As far as personality goes, picture a scary hybrid of Artemis Fowl (from, obviously, the Artemis Fowl series) and Sheldon Cooper (from The Big Bang Theory). He's a genius with nothing but disdain for others.

And he lives approximately five hundred years in the future, so I'm trying to steer clear of names that are popular now or have been in the past.

    Thanks for your help! :)

  • If you had to pick between the two...?

What if you were naming a child and had to pick between a terribly out-of-date name (e.g. Ida, Elmer, etc.) or one that's extremely popular at the moment, and therefore your child would know a million kids with the same name (e.g. Seraphina, Asher, etc.)?

BQ: If you picked the out-of-date option, what name would you choose? If you picked the trendy option, which name would you choose?

    5. Do you have a “guilty pleasure” name?

    6. Traditional or modern names?

    8. Do you have an absolute least favorite name?

    9. Do you like your name? BQ: What is your name?

NOTE: I posted this question once before, but it refused to show up in the Baby Names category, so if that first question does appear, I apologize for the double!

  • Boarding school life for teens?

I'm attempting to write a novel set at a boarding school, but my research on the overall atmosphere is coming up kind of short. For anyone who's been to boarding school, knows someone who went to one, or just has a good knowledge of them, what's the after-school life like - in the dorms especially? Is it pretty similar to college life, or totally different?

  • Sibling names to go with Leah?

These are for a set of characters in a big family. I'm looking for 3-4 names, both guy and girl. Their last name is Blythe and the only names I have set in stone are Leah Isabelle and Samuel James.

  • A good name for my protagonist?

She's a young teenager with reddish-brown hair, and her nose is typically buried in a book, though she can be outgoing when she wants to be. Here are the three names that I've narrowed it down to:

    Mia

    Lucille "Lucy"

    Charlotte

Which one do you think would work best?
