Does anyone know of any companies, located in or around the midwest that are willing or looking to hire an individual with a masters degree in Environmental Microbiology with roughly a year experience as a lead fermentation microbiologist at a bio-remediation research institution?

I have a masters degree in Environmental microbiology with a year of experience at one of the top five bio-remediation research stations in the nation, and it seems like no other company wants to touch me. right now i am stuck in a job i hate, i dread coming to work every day, and to top it off i relocated 600+ miles from home to take this job. all i can say is i feel as if i am losing my mind right now...

I am a 25 year old male with a masters degree in environmental microbiology, and currently i am working in New Jersey for an Environmental Remediation Company. i am the lead fermentation microbiologist, i have a great lab, equipment is out of date and broken but i make it work. but right now my boss is a complete a$$ hole and i am about ready to tell him where he can shove this job if you catch my drift. i would really like to get back to Michigan or at least in the Midwest. i have been job hunting now for some time but nothing has materialized. so i was wondering if anyone may have any suggestions for some companies that i can look into or someone that i can pass my resume along to? for i do not want to quit this job until i have another one lined up. any help would be great thanx!!!

i plan on pursuing my phd in microbiology, but i would like to focus on microbial taxonomy or polyphasic taxonomy. but recently i have been finding it hard to find a program that is either focused on this or has a similar focus. do you know of any or could you recommend any schools?
