  • Thinking of buying new iron/hybrid set....?

I was thinking of buying a Adams Golf a3 hybrid/iron set to replace my macgregor 1996 era clubs.

I am still a new golfer, only played 1 season in 1996 and recently started playing again. I started this spring on a league fresh, without a single swing prior to the 1st tee box. I did horrible, as you can imagine, and have rapidly improved to 45 for 9 holes. (bogey golf)

Would the new technology sets with hybrids be worth the $300.00 dollars over my old set? I cannot hit the 3 - 5 irons in my old set, so I was thinking the hybrids might bridge that gap. A single hybrid costs $100 so, maybe a whole new set might be better?

Or should I just wait and see where my game ends up, since I am still improving?

  • What kind of distance would I get with a 7 wood?

I know that this is a bit subjective but I am wondering if a 7 wood would be a good game improvement club for me. I do well with my driver, 3, and 5 wood....I can also hit up to a 6 iron decently.

    PW: 100 yards 7 Iron 155 yards Driver 250ish 3 Wood 210 5 wood 190+

Or would a hybrid be better? The gap range I want to cover is 165-200 yards.

    Thanks

  • Do you think socialized medicine is a forgone conclusion?

Unemployment increases size of available labor force. --> Unionization is at a all time low.--> Employers shed cost of health care benefits to its employees because of little concern over employee retention. --> Increase of the number of citizens on some form of public assistance, welfare and medicaid.....combined with aging population (Medicare). --> Increasing number of uninsured, under insured, and bankrupt--> Medicaid now funds most medical attention in hospital ERs.--> Hospitals cannot turn away citizens that cannot pay or underpay. --> Hospitals become insolvent and go bankrupt or the level of care is significantly reduced to 3rd world standards for most hospitals --> Government creates socialized medicine for the bottom 2/3rds of the population while the upper 1/3 remains on private insurance with better care.

  • What is the right golf ball for me?

I am a beginner/intermediate golfer with a current handicap of 20. I recently picked the sport up and have had a handicap of 14 in the past.

What I am looking for is something that might reduce side spin and give more distance. I am unable to spin the ball on the greens purposefully so I am not real concerned with that at the moment. I am looking mainly for distance improvement and control.

The golf ball makers promise everything on the box, and the information is so mix/mashed that I find it all confusing.

P.S. I am looking for balls that can be purchase for $25.00 a dozen or less.

  • What happened to Moderates in the U.S? Are they just the silent majority or is everyone polarized?

It seems to me the U.S. has a major divide between the left/right, red/blue, dem/rep with very little moderation. What happened to the the Conservative Democrat or the Liberal Republican?

Are the crys of today ("Socialism") and the laments of yesterday ("Un-Patriotic") the same?

    Discuss.
