  • A laptop, ATI, where dynamic switchable graphics confirmed can be absolutely disabled? 7-800?

I found a good laptop, well it's good as long as dynamic switchable graphics can be disabled, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTool... but the personnel I talked to about it were unreliable and gave me mixed information. So I have no idea whether or not DSG can be disabled. I need a laptop where it can be disabled. Please let me know of any model you know of where dynamic switchable graphics can be absolutely disabled, where you have disabled it yourself. Can it be disabled on Acer Aspire V5-552PG-X809?

  • Cheap ATI gaming laptop (700)?

I want a gaming laptop with a fast CPU (at least 2.3 GHz) and a decent graphics card (can run skyrim smoothly on medium settings). But I don't want to pay more than 7-800. Any suggestions?

  • Suggestions for dealing with MSI CX61 optimus problem (or suggestion of a new, cheap gaming laptop)?

Hey, graphics performance on my laptop (brand new) is not what it should be. And the reason is optimus. I've already encountered several problems with it: there is mild lagging and stuttering and general unsmooth-ness whenever the Nvidia card (GT730M) is being used, skyrim for ex. runs slow even though if there were no optimus and the graphics card was running alone, it would run considerably faster, neither Doom 3 nor Doom 3 BFG work, because of a problem with OGL (it doesn't work), and finally the Nvidia card is not being used for desktop, VLC media player, or google chrome (there is no option to set these programs to use the Nvidia card in Nvidia control panel).

I've tried installing latest drivers (beta), installing latest WHQL drivers (which reported that my system is not compatible with the drivers) and installing the drivers which came with the computer, but no dice. There is no option to enable the Nvidia card for the apps I want it to be used for. And the low performance is simply unacceptable. I want either to disable optimus *with* my laptops screen, not with an external screen, or buy another cheap gaming laptop that supports disabling optimus.

Optimus is really cancer, it slows everything down, makes a ton of apps fail and doesn't properly enable in many cases. The whole optimus system should either be rebuilt completely from scratch so that it is close to equal to a non-optimus system or just completely scrapped; there should just be an option to manually switch between the onboard card and Nvidia graphics and this should be a *hardware* change.

I saw a screen displaying my GPUs and the connections available to them. I don't know how to access this screen, it was a graphical display. It showed that the intel GPU has 3 output ports but the Nvidia GPU has 0. This means the Nvidia card is communicating with the display *through* the intel GPU. I don't know what insane, retarded person made this design decision. Sigh... obviously routing the Nvidia GPU through the Intel one will slow everything down... and Nvidia's optimus software is absolute garbage.

What I want is either a way to disable optimus COMPLETELY and output graphics solely from the Nvidia GPU, or a suggestion for another, cheap laptop that supports fully disabling optimus. My laptop has no setting for disabling it in the BIOS, disabling the intel GPU in device manager causes the Nvidia GPU not to be recognized, and on top of that, since the Nvidia GPU seems to be routed through the Intel GPU, disabling it seems to be impossible by any means. So, unless you can produce a miracle, or are aware of some information of which I am not, please suggest a cheap laptop (700-1300) that will run the latest games SMOOTHLY and support disabling of optimus. FFs....

Many of us gamers are being actively screwed by Nvidia, Intel, and all the other barbarious conspirators behind their garbage product. Gaw...

And I want to return this piece of crap laptop without having to pay for shipping. I was sold a laptop with a GT730M, this is false advertising and I shouldn't have to pay a cent to return it, and I should get 100% back what I spent. Sigh...

This is 100% a defective product. Calling this a gaming computer is a disgrace to humanity.

  • Need a sleeping bag that's ultra-small and can REALLY manage temperatures as low as 10F?

Can anyone recommend a site that sells such a bag/specific bag? Also a site that sells sandals that cover the whole foot but don't absorb smells--I mean at all. Completely non-porous. The bag has to be no more than 1 sq ft in volume.

  • Who are the best pianists playing Chopin?

So far, the only good pianist I have heard playing Chopin is Mitsuko Uchida. I just listened to Rubinstein, and I've heard many people playing Chopin, and I've heard at least one other famous person, but none of them are good. Their fingers can find the right keys quickly enough, but they put themselves into the music. Meaning, they put emotion and egotism into the music that doesn't belong in it and ruins it. I just heard a WONDERFUL rendition of one of Chopin's pieces in what seems to have been a youtube ad (it appeared mysteriously and I couldn't find the song in the playlist) so I am hungry to find pianists who can play Chopin well. Mitsuko Uchida only released one Chopin album that I can find.

  • How do I download the Chopin song playing in a youtube commercial?

I was listening to a playlist on youtube without seeing it and suddenly Chopin started playing unexpectedly. I am wondering who played it, because most people suck at playing Chopin. I've only found 2 people who can play it, Mitsuko Uchida and the person from the commercial (it sounded like a guy). Was it a commercial? I checked the playlist and couldn't find where the song came from. It wasn't on the playlist. I'm not entirely sure if the piece was Chopin, it's a familiar piece, I'm like 95% sure it was Chopin. If I find the commercial again, how can I record the music?

  • Difficult existential problem?

I am zen, and I have been introspecting ever since I was a small child. 5 years ago I met someone who can be called my master, which in meditative religion is someone who helps you to reach enlightenment. Since then I have tried in every way possible to reach enlightenment, and I have come to the following conclusion.

If I try to do anything to reach enlightenment, when I am doing it I will want to do the opposite, and vice versa. So if I try not doing anything, or sitting in meditation even when I don't want to, I will be constantly thinking about doing when I am "not doing" and constantly thinking about "not doing" when I am doing. The reason I use quotes is because what I tried in place of not-doing wasn't really not-doing, it was repeating to myself over and over "do nothing." I rarely have moments when I am not doing anything--in fact, there have only been two that I remember.

Still, something, a voice and a feeling inside me keep telling me to meditate. I feel pressured. I have been meditating every day for 20 minutes to an hour.

So my question is, is there any need to meditate or will it happen by itself? Is there any need to do any kind of practice or will the truth arrive by itself?

  • Where can I trade in/sell my desktop and laptop, and what is the easiest way?

I have a pretty nice desktop PC that can run the latest games with decent settings (except for like 1 or maybe a few games... I don't remember the name but there was this one game that can't run with decent settings) but it can run Crysis with decent settings for ex.

I also have a decent laptop for anything but gaming.

Where can I sell/trade in these items to buy a nice laptop (at least 2.6GHz dual core with a decent graphics card)? What is the easiest way to make $650-850 to buy a nice lappy? And will these items sell for that much? Are there any companies that will trade computers for other computers?

    Desktop specs:

Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz (can be overclocked up to something like 3GHz with reasonable stability)

    Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+ OC

    4GB 1333MHz Corsair RAM

    200GB good HD

The best CRT monitor ever created Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070SB 22in 2048x1536 @ 85Hz

    nForce 680i LT mobo

    Windows XP Professional 32

This compy was top of the line when it was built, and it still holds up to play latest games... just not with maxed out settings.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite. Specs:

    AMD E-300 APU 1.3GHz

    4GB RAM

    Windows 8

    500GB HD

    Radeon HD 6310

  • How can nothingness take on a form?

Everything in existence can be combined (mixed with) everything else. This is because all particles, no matter how small, can be exploded into energy. Also all energy (such as light and electricity) can behave like particles and all matter can behave like a wave (the particles it's composed of behave like waves). Matter is energy and energy is matter (energy has mass). Therefore, since all things in the universe can be combined, they must be made of the same thing. It doesn't make sense that two fundamentally, essentially different materials could be combined. If they were made of different stuff they could not be combined, because in their combination they would become the same stuff.

In the beginning, the entire universe exploded from a single point (or something like that) according to the big bang theory. This proves that everything can be combined, since all things originally were combined. Additionally, empty space (nothingness) also exists alongside matter and energy, which would seem to suggest that being and nonbeing arose from the same source at the beginning of the universe, while originally having been merged. In addition, there is the idea of the big crunch, which may happen at the end of the universe (it's sort of like an inverted big bang). At the end of the universe, all things will again be combined and become nothing. This proves that all matterenergy is actually curved nothingness or curved space, since it can be "mixed" with nonbeing by becoming completely uniform (having no form whatsoever, i.e. becoming nothing). Since everything in the universe can become nothing, it must be made of the same stuff (which is nothing).

In case this argument doesn't convince you, I will use Occam's razor: which theory is simplest, that all things in the universe are made of curved nothingness, or that there are two categories of material in the universe, nothingness and matterenergy?

How can nothingness be curved/take on a form while remaining nothingness? Also, from a more conventional physics standpoint, how can space be curved (this is actually the same question I just asked)? In what way does a different curvature in space affect things moving through it? Is the actual empty space really curved, or is this "curvature" actually some kind of field residing in the empty space? And finally, how can there be holes in space (black holes)? Empty space is empty space, with nothing inside, how can it have a hole in it? (I know there are things in space, but it's the actual empty space which has holes in it, not the things inside it.) Are black holes really holes in space or is this false and just something I heard?

    Why is it called space-time?

Remember, my main question is "how can nothingness be curved/take on a form?" The rest of the questions are secondary.

  • Does anyone have any solid advice on getting housing and evading authorities as an illegal immigrant in Japan?

I want to live in Japan for at least a few years, but I doubt I could get a job and live there legally. I could go back to college and study whatever is needed just to get a job there. Does anyone have any advice on securing a long-term stay in Japan by any means necessary? Legal and illegal answers are great, or a mix of the two. Any help is appreciated.
