  • Has anyone ever had the fFn test done?

I had never heard of this until I went in Friday night having contractions every 4 minutes (I am only 33 weeks) anyway I was just wondering about anyone elses experience with this test. They say to be reassured I will not deliver within the next 7-14 days, but I am still sort of nervous because of past preterm deliveries and the fact that even after medication I am still contracting.

  • pre-term labor question?

this is my 5th child, my first was born near her due date, my second at 38 weeks and twins at 34 weeks. with my twins i started what i thought was braxton hicks contractions at 32 weeks but didn't think much of it until around 34 weeks when i finally went in to be checked, turns out i was in active labor and had to have a c section immediately (double breech twins)

anyway, i am now 32 weeks and on sunday i started having what i am thinking is braxton hicks again, they are not painful but are roughly around 5 minutes apart during the day, they seem to go away at night, although they do not hurt so i might just be sleeping through them.

i am not sure what to do, i am afraid my doctor will just tell me i am being paranoid, but i really want to avoid having another baby stay in the nicu. i am due to have a c section on dec. 6th.

what would you do if you were me?

  • What would you do? child's tonsils?

my 4 year old will not eat or sleep and her tonsils are HUGE, the ENT says they are not touching so do not need to be removed. (her sleep study also came back border line abnormal she does not have apnia but has hypopnias)

i can opt to do this elective, would you do this if it was your child?

she is absolutely miserable she is up half the night and does not nap during the day, and barely eats anything.

i have another child whose tonsils were so huge they were in her throat, she also did not sleep or eat and once her tonsils were out she started eating and sleeping.

my baby also has an enlarged gall bladdar and they did not know what that meant either, could they be related?

this is my 5th baby and i have never had any of these issues come up previously.

  • How many of you would call CPS on a friend?

I am just curious as to if any of you would call on a friend.

personally I would. no matter how good of a friend it is i would feel the responsibility to protect the children.

i have a friend who witnesssed a friend of hers beating her child and instead of calling CPS she just told her she didn't want to see it again.

  • To moms of twins...?

since there seems to be so many out there tonight.

i have twins who will be 3 in october. before that i had two singletons (one in 2000 and one in 2003)

anyway, i went in for my ultrasound with this pregnancy and they only saw one.

my question is, for those of you who had a baby after twins, how does that make any of the rest of you feel? i almost feel like one is missing, does that make sense? almost disapointed. has anyone else felt this way or heard of this?

don't get me wrong, i am glad i am having the baby, it is just odd only having one after having two.

  • Good enough reason to change OB? sorry kind of long.?

okay i am not completely UNcomfortable with my doctor, but not completely comfortable either. These might sound like silly reasons but: he did not measure me, no ultrasound (i have a history of twins, and they missed them last time, so i really want to be sure it is only one this time) he said "you have a little yeast but since you did not notice we aren't going to do anything about it" (don't you need medication for that, i have never had that happen before so i am not sure), he also said i have some abnormalities on my cervix but he did not really explain this to me, just said to wait until the birth to deal with it.

anyway it was things like that, is that a good enough reason to switch? would you switch if it was you?

  • Has anyone else been tied down during a C-Section?

When I had my twins the doctors tied my arms down, during this procedure my ulnar nerve was compressed, and now I have had to have surgery to correct this. So my questions are: has anyone else been tied down? and If this happened to you would you file a suit against the hospital?
