850w PSU for GTX 970 3-way SLI?
OK, so I'm going to be upgrading my PC soon with 1 GTX 970 to start with, then another when I get the money.
I am thinking of getting a 850w PSU instead of the original 1000w I was thinking to cut the price down.
Will an 850w 80+ Gold PSU handle 3-way SLI with the GTX 970?
I won't be getting 3-way, I just like to have a little headroom to be safe.
1 AnswerAdd-ons7 years agoDeleting an OS from a HDD help?
OK. So soon I will be building a high end gaming PC. I prefer to keep my current HDD as it has pictures and things I wish to keep.
However I also want to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 and have that on an SSD.
So my question is:
- Is there anyway to remove Windows 7 from my current HDD and keep all of the other files on it without any other data loss other than the OS files and then use Windows 8.1 from the SSD as the main OS?
3 AnswersDesktops7 years agoGTX 760 Striker SLI vs. GTX 780 Ti?
Asus DirectCU II 780 Ti or the ROG GTX 760 Striker in SLI.
I ask because of the 4GB vs the 3GB memory on the 780 Ti. And the fact it's going to be SLI and will have better performance.
I will be gaming on a 720p Monitor at the moment, but will upgrade to 1080p in the future. Also it has a higher Core Clock Speed than the 780 Ti.
I would like the 780 Ti, but I will go for the SLI 760s if they will be better for now and the future so I wont have to upgrade again soon.
Thanks in advance :)
3 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoSilverstone RV01 Motherboard Tray help?
OK... So I'm going to build a gaming PC that will come to about £1100.
I was originally going to get the NZXT H440, however I'm not wanting to get the Raven RV01 because it looks really nice to me. But the Motherboard try is flipped so the I/O Shield and GFX Card ports are facing up. This puts me off the case.
So my question is:
- Can the Motherboard try be flipped into the regular position or a less off putting way?
If not then I will go with the H440 which is still a nice case...
2 AnswersDesktops7 years agoTape for PSU wire covering?
So I was thinking about getting a refurbished Corsair HX850, I'm not bothered much about the Semi-Modular part of it, but I am about the sleeving. It will bother me that you can see the coloured wires at the end of the wire were the plug is.
So I was wondering that if I removed the standard Corsair sleeving on the wire and covered the cables in some sort of black tape, will it cause and issues with performance or maybe melt the tape at the ends?
2 AnswersAdd-ons7 years agoEVGA GTX 780 Ti vs. Asus GTX 780 Ti?
I'm stuck between the EVGA GTX 780 Ti Superclocked (980 MHz Core Clock/1046 MHz Boost Clock)
or the
Asus DirectCU II GTX 780 Ti (954 MHz Core Clock and 1020 MHz Boost Clock)
I do like the design of the Asus card, and the EVGA. But want the best performance. Will the EVGA perform better than the Asus in games just because of its higher clocks? Or is the Asus still better?
I would much rather go with the Asus, but wouldn't be bothered with any of them. So would it be worth getting the EVGA over the Asus?
2 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoCPU Idle at 33% help?
So, a few days ago, my CPU fan was running fast non-stop. I decided to take a look at the thermal past. It was all spread out, but coming off the side of the CPU (I guess I shouldn't of bought a cheap no name brand). It is quite thin compared to to the known brands.
So I re-applied some more paste. I might of put too much, not sure...
Anyways. Before, my CPU would idle about 0-2%, spiking to about 10% when opening a browser etc. then it would drop to about 5.
But since adding some more Thermal Paste, it has been idling at 33-35%, and 39-50% with a browser open. What could be the cause for this and how can I stop this? It's bugging me and games aren't running to there full potential.
CPU: i5-2320 Cooler: Stock HP cooler (not stock Intel Cooler)
2 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoWill the Corsair RM750 750w run a GTX 780 without problems?
Question is all I have to say really.
However, I'm also wondering if it will run a GTX 780 in SLI without issues as I may SLI in the future and it would be best if I don't have to get a whole new PSU again for that.
If it wont then I will just get a 850w or more :D
2 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoWill the i5 4690 work with Z97 Mobo's?
Will it work with Z97 Motherboards. I ask because aren't 'Z' Boards for some Overclocking so the i5 4670K would be needed for example.
I'm not to sure. I want to get the 4690 because I wont be overclocking. Would I need to get a H97 board instead. I don't want to have to get a H97 Board if I don't have to... Just want to know.
Thanks for any help! :-)
1 AnswerOther - Hardware7 years agoAre there any Blue GTX 780's around?
I'm planning on doing a Blue PC build with the NZXT H440 Blue/Black case and a ASRock Z97 Extreme4 (1150) motherboard.
I want my graphics card to be a GTX 780, but I was wondering if there is any blue cards out there that are under the cost of ~£380.
I understand that you can take off the cover and custom pain it, but I don't trust myself with doing that and would rather buy one just in case.
If you could say who makes it that would be great, and along with the website you found it on :)
Thanks
2 AnswersDesktops7 years agoi5 4670K or i5 4690 for Gaming?
They are both around the same price range. I wont be overclocking, it will just be stock speeds.
I have read that the 4670K is a great CPU for gaming but I haven't read about the 4690 for Gaming. Also most i5 Gaming builds I have seen are with the 4670K.
So my question is: Will the 4690 be better than the 4670K for Gaming, the same, or worse?
Can I have reasons for the choice if you can? :)
Thanks for help!
3 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoAsus Maximus VI Hero or GB Z87X-OC?
Which will be a better option?
Both similar in price, I will not be overclocking, May go SLI in the future.
- Graphics card will be a GTX 780
- 16GB RAM (Hyper X Blu and Hyper X Fury. 8GB Each)
- Intel i5 4670K
The good and bad about both and why one is better than the other? I'm not sure which would be best for performance.
2 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoWill the Intel Celeron G1620 (2.70GHz Dual Core) Work with the ASRock H61M-VG3 Motherboard?
CPU: Intel Celeron G1620 2.70GHz Dual Core Socket 1155 Ivy Bridge
MOBO: ASRock H61M-VG3 Motherboard (Socket 1155, Intel H61)
Will they work together fine without issues?*
*not for gaming are anything like that, just a simple upgrade to a standard house PC*
1 AnswerOther - Hardware7 years agoROG Striker 4GB GTX 760 or GTX 780?
Which will be better?
The 760 with 4GB VRAM and 1150MHz Core Clock Speed
or
GTX 780 3GB and Non-Reference so something like PNY GTX 780 OC
If you give reasons, that would be great :)
2 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoHyper X Blu with Fury?
So I'm thinking of getting a new Motherboard and adding an extra 8GB RAM to it (from my current 8GB)
The motherboard colours are Red and Black so I am thinking of getting Kingston Hyper X Fury in Red.
I currently have Hyper X Blu in Blue, but I'm not going to replace that to keep the costs down.
So I was wondering if the current Hyper X Blu @ 1600MHz will work together with the newer Hyper X Fury which I will also get at 1600MHz speed.
Will there be any performance issues or anything like that?
1 AnswerOther - Hardware7 years agoGTX 760 (2GB) SLI or GTX 780?
Which one will be best?
x2 Asus GTX 760 DirectCU II OC
or
Generic GTX 780
for games like CoD, BF4 and, well all new games coming out.
If you could provide reasons to why, that would be great :D
3 AnswersOther - Hardware7 years agoWill the Corsair RM850 850w Run GTX 760 SLI?
Will it work with the following set up without errors?
CPU: AMD FX8350 Black Edition (4.0GHz)
MB: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard
GFX: Asus GTX 760 DirectCU II in SLI
RAM: HyperX blu (2x4GB) and HyperX Fury (2x4GB) (16GB Total)
And also I'm guessing there will be enough connectors to power the cards...
1 AnswerAdd-ons7 years agoAMD FX8350 and Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z?
Will the AMD FX8350 8 Core Black Edition work with the Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z?
I ask this because the Motherboard is Socket 942 and 990FX Chipset and I can't seem to find anywhere that mentions that this Processor is that Socket or Chipset...
1 AnswerAdd-ons7 years agoWhy Does Water Not Set on Fire?
It may sound stupid at first, but think about it.
- You need Oxygen to fuel fire, so that's the 'O' is H2O...
- Hydrogen is Flammable, and there is 2 of them in Water (H2)
So they would both burn/get used in a fire, but why does water (H2O) put out the fire???
A friend said because its liquid, but acids are liquid but don't put out fires, and some would react to the fire!
Once again, it does sound stupid, but it just came to me why it is this way! :/
