I have two children and the older one wants to move in?
I have two children 15 and 13, my oldest is no longer happy at moms house and expresses this to me often, in person, on phone and text. We are in NY, I think he is old enough to make a sound decision or at least give it a try over here. I want him to be happy foremost, we have lightly talked about him moving here and going back to court and he says its something he wants to do. What are some things I should be aware of when filing?
1 AnswerParenting8 years agoChild's father is absent in life?
My son is 5, he has not seen his father since he was 6 months old. The father sends child support every month ($25) he lives out of state. In the past 4 1/2 years I can count the times we have spoke to each other, he doesn't call and to be honest why should I have to keep him updated when he is fully capable, I didn't leave, he did. Withing the past 2 years he has called probably 4 times and the most being recent the other night coincidently because it was my sons birthday. Before that, more then a year before. My now husband who I have been with since my son was about 10 months old is the only "father" my son knows, he would love to be able to adopt my son, but I don't think that is possible. I have no legal court order for my son, I want to get one, just so I feel protected and my son is getting older everyday, but I'm afraid of "opening a can of worms" DO NOT GET ME WRONG I would have no problem with my son knowing his biological father, but the inconsistentcy is obvious. In a professionals or someone who has been through a similar situation what should be done? I'm clueless about what to do, I just have my child's best interest at mind, I don't want him to know he has a dad that only calls once a year
4 AnswersFamily9 years agoSeparating siblings during custody modification in NY State?
My stepson (14) has been expressing an inclination to live with us a lot in the recent months, my husband is interested in pursuing this. However my other stepson (11) has not expressed the same. My question is do courts typically allow for siblings to be seperated? How does this effect the child support order? Both families are in the same school district, as a matter of fact we live about 3 miles away from each other. I know that the current visitation schedule my husband has will be modified so that each parent will have both kids at the same. Has anyone else ever been through this? Or any legal advice? I know that an attorney for the children would be appointed I'm familiar with all of that.

Gregory has blond hair, but both of his parents and his sister Teresa have brown hair. Teresa thinks Greg is adopted. What can Greg say to Teresa to explain the difference in their appearance? Be sure to include explanations of alleles and pairings anddominant/recessive as well as the pattern of genetic inheritance that applies to hair color.
4 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoGiving up Parental Rights?
This is the situation - I have a 3 1/2 year old son, his biological dad left when he was 5 months old. We haven't seen him since. When he first left he would call often, send gifts but that was over shortly after, I haven't heard from him since April 2010, he has sent me 2 emails in the last 3 months, asking for my contact info. because he wants to talk to my child. The first one I didn't reply to because I needed time to think, I was appalled at his audacity, in the email he spoke about giving up rights, but said he decided he didn't want to do that. The 2nd email was earlier this week asking for my info again, IDK what to do, my son doesn't know him, he thinks of my fiance as his Dad he knows no one else as a father figure. I would like to bring up the thought of termination of his rights but don't know how. Here is some additional info, He has 2 other kids by another woman, and each child receives a stipend from his disability, His other children could benefit from my child's $ if rights were terminated, after all he see them (hes in another state). Im confused, IDK what to do, he has never done anything and hasn't really made attempts to. Do I have to be married for termination to even happen? does my son need to be adopted by my fiancee for this to happen? I am afraid that this would open a can of worms, and i should also leave things alone, after all he isn't apart of his life (his doing not mine) and my son gets $ per month although its minimal HELP
