  • How is texting like drinking and driving?

I keep hearing commercials and radio commercials from lawyers saying that texting while driving is like having three drinks of alcohol. They called it something like textfluence instead of under the influence. Is that insane or what? Can anyone tell me how that even starts to compare to alcohol? are we not talking about a cell phone? So lets say you had three drinks and start driving and you text someone and 30 seconds later you finished texting your friend and had no accident, well you are still under the influence alcohol, that's not going to go away for a while. How about this one, hey im eating ice cream and you are eating cake, they are kind of like the same right? NO! no they are not the same, CMON people. lets just stay with the whole texting and texting is all that it is. A law is a law and there it is but don't compare it to anything else. Do you guys have any other mixed feelings about this? please explain. thank you

  • 96 Honda Passport wiring issue?

My 96 passport V6 engine 2wd was working fine until one day the AC shut off but the car still runs fine. So thats just the beginning here is the scoop now, it starts fine so as I try to turn the AC the signal lights light up solid on the dash, I shut that off and turn on my headlights and engine bogs down a bit but headlights do not come on, signal lights do not work. So this is what I replaced so far, alternator 190.00 from napa auto parts. Battery through sears Diehard. Looked over and over at wiring but cant find anything looked on line at forums and I keep hearing alternator over and over but after spending 190.00 I dont see my self spending another 200.00 at another parts store. So here is the question. has anyone had this type of problem? if so what have you replaced so far or actually replaced and fixed the problem? Its a tuff one and is getting very frustrating. Thanks guys

  • Question on a 1984 toyota 4x4 long bed rear leaf springs.?

Remember that it is a LONG BED, one of my rear leaf springs snapped on my 84 4x4 pickup long bed (NOT A 4RUNNER!) I phoned the dealer and they told me that those parts are no longer available and are obselete. I ended up phoning some toyota auto wrecker specialists and they said it fits starting 79 upto 85, well I ended phoning another toyota specialists and they told me 83 to 85. I keep going back and forth to junk yards but measuring the springs is not quite the right way to do it. Is there perhaps a website I can go to check that out? Has someone gone through this and knows exactly what years they fit? It is the solid front axle type if that matters and yes I am looking for STOCK rear leaf springs LONG BED pickup and NOT A 4RUNNER! Thanks everyone

  • Who gets the seatbelt ticket? CA law says the anyone under 16 the driver gets the ticket.?

My friend has a dodge pickup extended cab which can carry 5 passengers. Him and two other friends went out to some bars one night till about 1am. Well the driver did not drink but the other two drank like there was no tomorrow, so as they were leaving the two hammered ones were biggining to feel very sick so they decided to just jump in the back bed for the reason that they did not want to have an accident in the truck. About a mile ahead they get pulled over and the police ended up giving the two in the back tickets for not wearing a seatbelt. So what is the CA law here? I understand the under 16 but what about over 18? 21? or 30? I mean if I was to chase down a police officer would he tell me what he thinks or the real deal? I tried looking on (CADMV.ORG)but nothing states exactly who gets the ticket if your over 16. Could it be that its just pretty much up to the police officer and how he feels who he should give the ticket to? Just curious, Thanks everyone.

  • Need Pictures on a 1983 CJ5 Jeep vaccum lines with offset air cleaner housing?

I just purchased a 1983 CJ5 jeep from oregon and brought it to California and is not smog ready. All the smog components and lines have been taken off. I just purchased the original carburator and air cleaner but am missing all vacuum lines. The air cleaner mounts on the valve cover with a bracket and the top of the air cleaner lays on the carb. Has anyone ever seen this? do I have the correct air cleaner housing? Does anyone have any pictures of their engine with this type of air cleaner? My engine is a inline 6cyl and again it is a 1983 CJ5. All your answers are truly and very appreciated. Thank you.. Oh! and by the way I have purchased me a chiltons jeep book but is not helping me.

  • Whats wrong with my 1984 Toyota truck 4x4?

I have an 84 Toyota truck 4x4 with a 22R carburated motor and the darn thing didn't pass smog. The truck has this strong fuel smell like its not burning all of the fuel. He said that it was burning too much fuel. Do you believe it has to do something with the carburator? Would valve adjustments have anything to do with that? A catalityc converter perhaps? I have till the end of the month to get this smog done. Thank you all
