How do I get Yahoo Answers to stop email notifications?
The solutions I've found searching YA! say to uncheck the email notifications in the YA! profile settings. None are checked, but YA! is still emailing notifications -- some for answers that were from years ago.

3 AnswersChemistry5 years agoHow do I remove Comodo Internet Security.?
The company's website says I can do it just with running the uninstaller. However, after doing so, even after multiple reboots, CAV (Comodo AntiVirus) and CIS (Comodo Internet Security) processes are still running, so they're obviously not gone. Only the uninstaller and start mentu entries are gone.
There are viruses which are easier to get rid of.
5 AnswersSecurity5 years agoWhat ever happened to SyFy's adaption of "3001: The Final Odyssey?"?
There was a news story in announcing it in 2014. It mentioned that it was expected to air sometime in 2015.
I don't recall hearing anything about it after that
2 AnswersDrama5 years agoWhy do scammers ask if you're over 30?
Every single scam call starts out that way if you go beyond the recording. I get why they're calling. They want to scam me out of my money, but the first question they ask is whether you're over 30. If you say "no," they hang up. If you say "yes," there's a 50/50 chance they'll hang up or keep going.
No legitimate call from any company asks that question, so it's a dead give away that it's a scam, and I can't see that they're gaining any useful information from it.
Anyone familiar with the scam have even a guess at why they ask if you're over 30?
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police5 years agoDoes the TTC in Toronto actually report and prosecute drivers that run stopped transit vehicles?
Several TTC drivers always say that they "could" report them for blowing through and nearly running down people entering or exiting a street car. However, I've never heard of anyone ever being prosecuted for it.
After an incident with a douche from BC and numerous incidents before, it's got me wondering if the TTC actually reports these incidents, and if the Toronto Police ever lays charges on these.

(299 RSX, British Columbia tags, Black SUV -- 4:55pm, Yonge+Dundas). The guy only stopped and avoided running down several people after the street car blared its horn. He then waited until people started loading before he bump-stopped his way through and took off. By bump-stop, I mean he'd run up and bump someone at low speed, wait for them to get out of the way, and repeat until he was clear.
1 AnswerOther - Cars & Transportation6 years agoAre there any gun stores left in Downtown Toronto other than Al Flaherty's?
Sorry. Have to ask this question again, as from the answers I got, I apparently wasn't clear. I'm looking for brick and mortar gun stores in downtown that sell ammunition.
By "Downtown Toronto", I mean North as far as Eglinton Ave, South as far as the waterfront, East as far as Woodbine Ave, and West as far as Roncessvalles Ave.
1. Al Simmons -- Theyr'e in Hamilton. Hamilton isn't part of Toronto, much less downtown Toronto.
2. ARK Army Surplus - near Highway 401. Highway 401 isn't anywhere near downtown.
3. Firearms Toronto Canada - Not even a gun store. It's a classified ads site for guns, like Canada Gun Nutz or Gun Broker.
There's also Le Baron, but their closest stores to downtown are in Markham and Mississauga.
I'm also aware of the Bass Pro Shops in Vaughn and Niagara falls, but again, not in Toronto.
4 AnswersToronto6 years agoHow do you safely dispose of 18650 Lithium Ion batteries that have been overcharged?
It's pretty simple to get rid of 18650's normally. Just run them down, and then put them into the battery recycling bin like any other battery.
However, when they've been overcharged, they're kind of dangerous to hang onto or use --- especially the Lithium Cobalt type. When they're overcharged, there's a risk of them spewing fire, or outright exploding if they're used, or even if they just sit around.
So, there's no real way to run them down (if there was, this wouldn't be an issue).
Is there a safe way to render them inert?
1 AnswerOther - Electronics6 years agoWhat do I need to do to make sure that DHL, FedEx or UPS actually TRY to make the delivery?
With each of those courier companies, most of the time the driver doesn't even bother to buzz up and try to make the delivery. They just check off the "recipient refused" box, and leave. They don't even leave a "missed you, please contact..." notice sticker, so I don't even know if their driver even bothered to swing by the neighborhood.
I've tried giving them the buzz code (apparently it's too much work to look up my name in the lobby directory).
I've tried paying the duties in advance online. All 3 are supposed to offer COD on duties, but their customer service always suggests paying up front.
I've tried authorizing them to leave it with building security.
It shouldn't be unreasonable to expect the courier to actually provide the service I paid for.
Other - Business & Finance6 years agoBatman (1989) - Was Joker's ridiculously long barreled revolver an actual gun or was it a mock up?
I know it was based on a Smith and Wesson Model 15 - Gen 3. However, was it a real customized firearm, or a mock up?
2 AnswersMovies6 years agoCan I use a pair of NiMH batteries as a drop in replacement for a soldered in pair of NiCd batteries?
I'm looking to repair an old rechargeable shaver. The original batteries are a pair of AA NiCd batteries soldered onto a circuit board.
I've read that it's possible to replace the NiCd batteries with NiMH in some applications without modifying the charging circuit.
Would it be better to swap the old NiCd batteries with another pair of NiCd batteries, or would it be better to replace them with NiMH?
If it's fine to do so, are there any other considerations I need to be aware of other than an increased charge time, and how do I calculate how long to leave it plugged in for charging?
1 AnswerEngineering6 years agoWhy does an ancient video card like an ATI 4850 HD cost so much?
The thing is nearly 7 years old now. They don't even update the drivers anymore. The latest Catalyst that officially supports that video chip is from last year. Yet, the asking price hovers around $60-$130USD.
If it was just on Ebay, I'd think it was a fluke, but that's what it's like on Amazon too. The equivalent one generation back is averaging $20 and similar vintage nVIdia cards aren't commanding such high resale either.
Is it just a few crazies asking for insane prices, or what?
2 AnswersDesktops6 years agoWhen discussing Lithium rechargeable cells, why do they call them ICR, IMR, LFePO4? Specifically, why is it an 'I' and not an 'L'?
ICR = Lithium Cobalt Rechargeable
IMR = Lithium Manganese Rechargeable
LFPO4 = Lithium Iron Phosphate (F = Fe = Iron, PO4 = Phosphate)
I get why the older Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are referred to as LFPO4. However, why do they use I for the other two lithium battery types?
1 AnswerEngineering7 years agoHow do I shut down answering to an existing question?
Yahoo used to close down answering to questions where a best answer was already selected. At some point, they started allowing people to continue answering even after that, so a lot of my old questions have turned into spam targets. Some of them are from years ago but now I'm getting indirect email alerts about car insurance and credit cards this way.
2 AnswersYahoo Answers7 years agoWhat current models (2011 or later) of cell phones have a removable battery and an SD slot?
I've been looking for a new cell phone, and it looks like all the touch screen smart phones have embraced the Apple design philosophy of "most expensive disposable item in history."
Is there a model of smartphone still in production that has a user swappable battery, and an SD slot for expansion of storage space?
5 AnswersCell Phones & Plans7 years agoIs a digital indoor antenna any better than an old amplified set?
I have an old amplified indoor antenna from RCA that I dug out of the closet, and it works, but pulls in only 3 channels. Is there any advantage to spending $50 on a new "HDTV/Digital" indoor antenna, since their specs seem to show they're designed to pick up the same signal ranges.
