  • what should I do about nuisance neighbours?

I have new neighbours moved in next door who are just horrible. Before they moved in I heard a girl screaming and unching the front door demanding to be let in her "f***ing house!" then whilst they were moving in two of them were having a screaming blazing row up and down the entire road swearing and yelling at each other for everyone to hear and ever since all they ever do is scream and yell like children with behavioural problems all day and crash about the house fighting. They scream all around their house and in the back and front garden, kicking the front door, etc. I'm assuming the whole road must hear it. They even do it in the middle of the night, i got woken up 3 times in the night a few nights ago. They sit in there "garden" all night (not even a garden its like a very small alley) smoking pot and talking loudly. I have a toddler who has to listen to all this every day, one day they screamed for 5 hours, inside and outside the house, the woman was completely hysterical. they don't work and seem to always be drunk and always have lots of people round there, I've never seen one of them leave the house without a beer/cider can. they screaming was so much that two people who came to visit the other day both parked all the way down the other end of the road two hours apart both heard the screaming as they got out of their cars. they are not reasonable, approachable people as one of them drove their motorbike really fast up a pavement and when a man told them not to because of the children playing, he just started on him as if he wanted a fight., so i can ask them to shut up. i can't really compain to authorities either beacause they'll know cos of the houses positions etc. i have the landlords phone number but i doubt that would do any good. I just wondered if there's anything else I could do or if anyone had this problem and if it worked talking to their landlord etc? anyway thanks! :)

  • does facebook app on blackberry constantly use internet even when you close it?

i have a basic contract tariff on my blackberry that only allows 500mb of internet a month free, then I get charged for whatever I use on top of that. I only really use it on wifi at home (or in wi-fi spots away from home) and very occassionally check the internet on gprs when out as I don't want to pay extra for internet. I downloaded the facebook app on it so I could upload photos from my phone (as i didnt really mind just going on fb via the browser but it wouldnt let me upload to albums that way) but Im worried about it costing me money as I assumed when you closed the app by clicking the menu then close, not just using the back key, that it would be closed and not connected to the internet but I keep getting notifications pop up on my screen as if it's still running. does this mean that facebook app is constantly runnign no matter what and using the internet? :S and if so can I stop it or should I just delete the app? as really really can't afford a massive phone bill! sorry if this is stupid question but I really don't get the whole apps thing yet! lol. any help would be really appreciated! thanks :)

  • can you use downloaded apps without internet?

on blackberry curve, i downloaded apps for photo editor and calorie counter, i turned off all internet connections and they still work, does this mean once downloaded you can use them without the internet or is something being overridden. i am completely rubbish when it comes to technology so this might be a stupid question! but just worried cos dont want a massive phone bill. also if i turn off the network internet but keep wifi on does that mean i wont be able to get charged for network internet (or can they override that??)

  • how to get rid of baby belly and muffin top (not lose weight)?

Hi, I had a baby 7 months ago and since having him have been eating healthily and doing moderate excercise everyday to lose all the baby weight i put on. Ive managed to lose around 1 and a half stone (23 pounds) and now have a healthy bmi (22) and am a uk size 12 (im quite tall) so i would be more than happy with my weight but the only thing is even though iv been doing cardio and toning excercises i still have a disproportionately big baby belly and muffin top leftover. i just assumed these would go down too when i excercised and ate healthily. now i look slim around it with a huge middle section. I have looked everywhere to try and find how i can get rid of these but everywhere just says about losing weight. I dont want to lose anymore weight incase the bulge that wont shift ends up looking even more noticable. I just need to know what excercises or foods would target just the saggy baby belly and muffin top? any help would be great thanks as its really getting me down.

  • cant get 6 month old baby to fall asleep?

my 6 month old has got into a habit of not going to sleep easily for naps/bedtime. i try to get him to sleep as soon as he looks sleepy as the more tired he is the worse it gets but he just fights it and will spend a long time trying not to be held/rocked to sleep by punching/scratching/pulling hair/wriggling away/screeching/screaming/spitting his dummy out etc and its so exhausting. sometimes it can take an hour to get him to sleep all the time being scratched and hair pulled (hes a very strong baby) and i have to really hold him tightly and rock him a lot to get him to sleep. half the time i give up and let him scream for a while and try again as i have a bad back and he only responds if you stand up (you cant sit down and cuddle him) you cant rock him in a pushchair either as he will scream very loudly. i dont know what to do but it is relly stressing me out and getting me down as it feels like all he does is cry all day and scratch and hit and pull hair/etc. are there any other things i can try so i dont have to go through this all day? (he has lots of short naps so i basically spend the whole day doing this) thanks

  • How long did it take you/how did you get rid of excess belly flab after giving birth?

I had my son 12 weeks ago. When I was pregnant I went up from 12stone to 15stone7lbs. (Im about 5"11) About 2 stone of that went immediately within a couple days since giving birth (water/baby/etc!) Then I lost about another half a stone over the first six weeks, although I wasnt really trying to lose weight and I didnt excercise, although I was pumping lots of milk. Then after 6 weeks I started going for walks and doing wii fit occassionally just to try and get a bit healthier/fitter again and I cut out most junk food and started eating healthily. I didn't do anything extreme and now im just 4lbs off my pre-pregnancy weight. The only thing is my flabby tummy doesnt seem to be shifting. Is this because its only 12 weeks after giving birth or is there something I should be doing to get rid of it? someone said if you lose weight too quickly it probably won't go as it will end up as loose skin. I have tried not too lose weight too quickly and I use collegen-enhancing "mum to be" moisteriser on my stomach still. I just wondered what other peoles experiences are and if you lost it eventually and if so how? and how long it took? thanks a lot! :D

  • how to get rid of severe acne after giving birth?

I have always had acne since I was a teenager but I used to be able to keep it fairly under control. When I got pregnant it got a lot worse and nothing would work (even all the old things I used to use that had previously got rid of spots) If I was lucky it would get a little better for a day or two here and there but mainly it was really bad. I assumed after I had my son it would calm down a bit, but it seems to have got even worse since then (i had my son 8 weeks ago) and is constently so bad makeup doesnt even cover it up really. I just wondered if anyone else had this and what you did to get rid of it? Any advice would be helpful as it's getting a bit depressing now (what with already having to try and get rid of extra baby weight and the baby pouch! lol) thanks! :)

ps i already wash my face with clean and clear daily scrub everyday and use tea tree face masks

  • how can i get my money back from bad hairdresser?

Yesterday I went to the hairdressers (for the first time in a long time) as a treat from my husband, as I have not long had a baby and wanted to make myself feel a bit better about my appearance by getting a nice cut and colour. My hair was bleached with brown through it (with quite a bit of roots showing :S) I had wanted to try to change to a caramel blonde if possible and just have the styl that was growing out, re-cut into my hair.

She first said she would do foils, then i said I wouldnt mind an all ovr colour if it was easier (which sh said it was) i stressed i was a new mum and needed something manageable. we decided on a dark blonde and were going to put some reddish lowights in after. she bleached my roots (which i found unnessecery) and put the dark blonde on, i dont know what she did but it came out red. not strawberry blond/ ginger, but a faded red colour. she kept saying "oh this is a nice colour" and i just didnt really say much as i thought maybe it was just reacting badly with my hair and at least the colour wasnt patchy. then she saw the ends were still bleach blonde so it was patchy and so said she would cut my hair and sort the ends after.

I told her i didnt want to loose any length and told her the exact style i wanted, i have always had messy, rock style haircuts and you could tell by the eone that had grown out. she then cut lots of the length off and gave me what i can only describe as a 40 year old soccer mum hairstyle. she also gave me a fringe when i didnt want one.

Then what was left of the ends, she re-dyed to try to match up th colour and get rid of the blonde. that worked so she rushed me out after charging me £85. i was in there 4 and a half hours as she was doing another ladies hair at the same time!

the next day i tried washing my hair, thinking maybe i could dry it into something resembling a not completely terrible style when i noticed the lengths were unneven in the layer and the dye had come off of the ends of my hair and the blond was showing through again!

Im totally upset, I feel frumpy with crap hair and no money to have it fixed as £85 is a lot of money to me and I can't afford that again. I didnt realise till i was having my hair done that its her business and only she works in the salon (although th salon looks proffessional and has about 6 chairs so i assumed it was a proper business) and if i go in to complain theres nothing to stop her refusing to giv me any money back or anything. Also she was actually a nice lady so i feel bad going back but I think i shouldnt thave to pay for her mistakes as my self confidence is really low now because of it and i have wasted a lot of money for not only a style AND colour i didnt want, but one that was done badly.

How can I go about getting my money back in a way that is constructive and not too horrible? I dont want her to re-do it if she offers as Im scared at the further damage she could do. what can i do if she refuses to refund me any money? did anyone else have something like this, if so what happened?

    thanks!

  • How much did YOU weigh at birth and how much did your first baby weigh? any connection?

Just curious as to how much people weighed at birth and how much their first babies weighed at birth. Im a week off having my first (who i think will be quite big as at 36 weeks he was measuring 8lbs at an ultrasound scan) and I weighed 11lbs at birth. I just wondered if there was any correllation between the two weights; if they were the same or if (hopefully not) if th babies were bigger than their mothers at birth?

  • did you end up paying virgin media extra when you moved house? (UK)?

im moving house soon and want to move my virgin media account across to the new place. I have submitted the online form to virgin media about changing house and they have set up an appointment for them to install it in the new house. In my confirmation email they also said

"Your first bill at your new address will be a double bill, since we'll be billing you for the current month and a month in advance. There'll also be your final bill for your old address, which will be calculated within 5 days of your account closing. The balance, which could be a credit or a debit, will be transferred to your new address and added to your first bill."

I might be reading it wrong but it seems I'm going to end up paying more (paying the final bill and paying DOUBLE for the first month at the new house???) is thta correct or have I misunderstood? I pay direct debit now so I thought it would just carry on as normal? I will be annoyed if I have to pay more, as I already paid two months in advance when I first got virgin media. If this is the case I think I will move to sky instead as I have been considering this and only decided to stay with virgin as I thought it would be easier to when we move. Has any one else moved their virgin account when they moved? what happened when you did, was it straight forward or as complicated as when you got virgin in the first place?

  • would a tenant be held accountable for this?

I am about to move out of my flat and wanted to know where I stand legally as regards to our deposit. I keep the flat clean but because it is poorly ventilated and there are no windows in the kitchen and bathroom, mould has accumulated in various places on the walls, mainly the bathroom and bedroom. I have been cleaning this off regularly but lately I havent been able to as im 7 months pregnant and its difficult for me. When I tried to clean it, after about 2 weeks, the mould will not come off the walls in some places. Also, as it is poorly decorated some of the paint has been peeling off because of the damp and when I try to wash the walls it just falls off. And in other places, when I try to wash the walls to clean them (with just water and a sponge-no cleaner) the paint comes off revealing the colour underneath! I don't want to lose my deposit and I'm worried the landlord will say all these things are our fault. I can't see how I could hav prevented this from happening though, and as I cant clean properly until all our stuff is packed away, Im worried if the agent shows people around the property they will think we've not cleaned it because of the mould. Is there anyway I can be held accountabl for this damp problem or will I get my deposit back?

  • how much notice do i have to give leaving this property?

my question is a bit complicated but i'll try to explain it clearly! my husband and i moved into a property and were told it would be £400 for the first 6 months as the landlord was trying to resolve a nois issue with the takeaway above the flat. the takeaway has an extractor fan that makes a very loud noise for two hours every day and sometimes at night time, it is a very noticable noise that does disrupt your day. but as we knew this and we were getting reduced rates, we thought it would ok to live with for a while. the agreement was after the 6 months our rent would go up to £525 a month if the noise was sorted out, which was fine. the landlord contacted us once in the 6 months (about two months in) and after that we didnt hear back until a week or so before the 6 months was up. when he rang wee told him the noise was still there and there was no change, so he said he would come round to talk to us about it. we waited to hear from him but he never rang again and then the day after we paid another months rent (which would be the 7th month-so after our agreement) we recieved a letter and new contract from him saying we have to sign it and send it back and pay £525 a month from the 7th month (but w had alrady paid £400 and this was not what we had agreed anyway) so we rang the estate agent and she said we shouldnt sign the new contract or pay any extra money and just wait to talk to him. it had been a few weeks and today i got a rather nasty phonecall from the landlord saying he has been trying to contact us and why havnt we paid the extra mony and sent him th new contract back, etc? so i told him he said he would come round and he didnt, to which h replied he came round but we were out (i explained to him he should have told us he was coming and we would have been in, how were we to know?) and he then tried to li to me and tell me that we had said on th phone that the flat was fine and we were going to pay the extra money! i said we wouldnt as the noise hadnt been sorted out and so he said he would come and "talk to us" about it and tried to make me agree to see him tommorrrow morning (sun morn) which i cant and i think is a bit unreasonable. i told him i would get my husband to ring him and that my husband works long hours but it took a long time to get him to accept this and leave me alone. it twas very upsetting as im 7 months pregnant and really dont need to stress of someone bing like that when me and my husband have donw nothing wrong. now we just want to get out of here as soon as possible and not get dragged into silly arguements as i can tell this man is trouble. how much notice do we have to give? in the contract it says 2 months if we want to leave before the 6 months is up, but as the 6 months has already expired and we have paid for this months, would we be able to go at the end of this month? we cant afford to lose our deposit? any help would really be appreciated.
