  • engine died while driving, did not loose electrical.?

    98 acura integra

I was driving and my engine suddenly died with no sputter, no warning lights (like it ran out of gas instantly). But the electrical stayed on, it just turned on the same lights when a parked car is put in accessory mode and not run. Pulled over and tried to crank and it would just crank crank crank but would not run. 2 hours later it was towed to my house, then it fired up and I drove it down my drive way no lights or unusual sounds.

Next day, car fires up and drives 3 miles then same thing happens, engine dies and lights dim but stay on, this time I down shift and release clutch and lights brighten back to normal and sounds like the fuel pump hum is working but rpms are 0 and power steering goes out like the car is just in accessory mode.

I come to a stop and try to crank but now it sounds like a weak battery. no fire, second try now sounds like dead battery.

many post claim battery, but wouldn't all lights cut off? I've seen alternator post, but while the battery was still good wouldn't fire right up or gradudie as the battery weakens. I thought spark plug or distributor but wouldn't that be reduced power not sudden death? so I thought fuel line clogged or bad fuel pump, but that seems to be the most expensive repair and i'm not sure how I can test this.

please, someone with real knowledge reply, not the :i had the same problem and replaced the etc etc etc etc and its good now but I have know idea which part was the real cause"

  • Audio Driver is gone and USB ports wont work.?

My laptop is a little over 4 years old, its a toshiba satellite and gets frequent high level use. And it travels a lot from home to the fire station. I'm already getting a new desktop so I'd appreciate if you save the "your problem is it's a Toshiba or I need a new laptop etc." just looking for some possible reasons and some advice.

One day my speakers randomly stopped working. I have the speaker icon on my taskbar with a red circle and white 'X' on it. I reset the computer and they were back for about a week then went out again and reset didnt help until they came back while i wasnt doing anything after a few days.

I performed updates and downloaded the driver from toshiba and from realtek and run an anti-virus/spyware/etc. with no luck. My speakers have been out for more than a month now and that includes the audio jack for headphones since the OS says there are no drivers installed.

Now, the added bonus is that no USB ports will work or the eSATA port, but VGA will, and if my computer goes to sleep or if I close the screen and open it, it does not wake-up or do anything unless I force a restart and let it boot up.

Added info: I've completely taken this thing apart and all connections are clean and connected. I plan to get a new desk top but want to keep this laptop just for the web, and microsoft office if the speakers are done for. Is it worth keeping or wiping the thing so it only has what I absolutely need or is it on its way to the graveyard.

  • Thermodynamics, How much CO2 is produced from the coal?

    1. Fossil fuel power plants operate by using the energy from burning the fuel to boil steam as in Figure 1. The steam

passes through a turbine, which converts the steam’s energy into rotational motion. A generator then converts the

rotational energy into electricity. Typically, about 80% of the energy from the burning fuel is transferred to the

steam and 30% of this energy is converted to electricity. In the case of coal, 27 MJ of energy are released for every

kg of coal burned, and coal is 78% carbon by mass. Assuming all the carbon from the fuel produces CO2 (limited

amounts of carbon monoxide CO and other gasses are also formed), compute the mass of CO2 produced for every

    MJ of electricity produced.

    so far...

    1kg=27MJ

    (27MJ) * (80%)= 21.6MJ

    (21.6MJ) * (30%)= 6.48MJ

    1Kg Coal * 78% Carbon = 780g Carbon

So... 780g Carbon = 6.48MJ Electricity, I'm not sure where to go from here or if I'm heading in the right direction?

  • downloading from the web?

Until recently when I download a file or program from a site it would give me the option to save or open. Normally I would just open and install, but now when I do that it fails and the retry option does nothing. Then if I choose the option to save if works. Why is this happening now and can I fix it.

I'm using Internet Explorer, but it does it on Fire Fox too.

  • tangent slope estimate?

If point P(1,0) lies on the curve y=sin(10pi/x) and point Q(x,sin(10pi/x)) what is the slope of the tangent?

    values for x: 2,1.5,1.4,1.3,1.2,1.1,.9,.8,.7,.6,.5

I know that the tangent slope is about the average of the two secant lines closest to both sides of pointP but since this function does not approach a limit, this formula does not seem to work.

I need to know how to estimate this tangent slope

  • respiratory therapist?

I just got out of the army where i earned my NREMT-Basic and i want to go back to school. i was thinking of either paramedic or respiratory therapist. since i got a second kid on the way the RT seemed more appealing because of the average salary and i keep hearing that its in high demand, but i also know that medics are in high demand.

can anyone tell me if i get the RT degree what would be the best most practical step if i want to take my education further. is there a way to go from that to some type of surgeon and if so whats should i search to research it and how long is schooling.

  • how to modify a power wheels?

ok. if i have a power whell and two batteries which would be the best set up.

if i link them in series i think it creates more voltage and if i link them in parallel it creates more current. which would create more speed without burnning up the motor.

  • what are best places to live in NW Florida?

to give some more factors. i'm currently enlisted in the Army and will be going to school likely for mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, a combintation of those in mechatronics or since i'm enlisted as a medic i might do something related to orthopedics or cardio. i have a small family and my wife will only be working here and there on her side projects. She likes destin but i was interested in panama city, crest view, and pensacola.

can anyone tell me about these areas and their pros and cons or a better city in that area.

looking for opinions on housing, schools, crime, and of coarse stuff to do with a family.
