  • Good name for a male dachshund?

My husband and I are getting a long haired male dachshund pretty soon and are having a hard time picking a name for him. We prefer an actual name not something like Happy or Smokey. We have 2 cats, Lilly and Millie. The last puppy we had unfortunately passed away at 7 months old. His name was Charlie. Our puppy's "cousins" are Cosmo, Kramer, Puddy, Oscar, and Ella. We'd like a name that fits in with those. I used to joke that I wanted to name him Willy to go with the cats and also so he was Willy the weiner dog but I have decided that such similar names would be too confusing to the animals. Any suggestions on a good name?

  • Puppy Training?

I have a 3 month old puppy who loves to bite and to jump up on people. We really don't want him doing either and have tried several things to break him of the habits. My SIL had taken her dogs for training and they said to grab them by the scruff of their neck and hold them to the ground until they stop fighting. We do that with him and it only takes him a few seconds before he lays still but then will bite again as soon we let go. The biggest problem is that he jumps up on my 3 year old and knocks her over and know she doesn't want to have anything to do with him and even to get rid of him. He is a lab/retriever mix and is already a big boy! Any tips on how to break him from biting and jumping on people would be great! Only serious answers please!

  • Possible nicknames?

My husband and I really like the names Garret and Dalton (for a boy) but are wondering what nicknames people might come up with for either name. What nicknames can you think of for these names?

I'm not looking for other name suggestions, just potential nicknames! Thanks!

  • Old wives tales for baby gender selection?

My husband and I are going to try for another baby. He would really like a boy. I know there are scientific ways to guarentee the sex of your baby but that is just too impersonal and expensive. I know there are old wives tales or folk wisdom things that you are supposed to do to "chose" the sex of your baby. Have you heard of any interesting ones for a boy? Anything that worked for you? We realize it is all chance but figure it can't hurt to try! Thanks!

  • Question about peonies?

My husband and I just bought a house this fall and there are TONS of peonies in the yard but they are all in one area. I want to keep them but would like to move them to different areas in my yard. How easy are they to transplant? Anything special I need to do with them? Also, can I divide them so I have even more? Thanks!

  • Health issues for Basset Hound/Beagle mix?

My husband and I are rescueing a Bagle Hound (basset hound/beagle mix) today. I have done a little research on them but haven't really found if there are any health issues I need to watch for. Does anyone know what problems are common to this breed? I know each breed has some issues but with the mix I don't know if some are cancelled out by the other breed. Thanks!
