how many think that the 2nd amendment applys only to a well regulated Militia?
If you do I challenge you to read quotes from men who wrote it and see for yourself what was meant by "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
"The strongest reason to retain the right to bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in the government." Thomas Jefferson
"To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms..." - Richard Henry Lee
“I ask, Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.” “I consider and fear the natural propensity of rulers to oppress the people. I wish only to prevent them from doing evil.” George Mason
“Arms in the hands of citizens (may) be used at individual discretion…in private self-defense…”-John Adams
“And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press, or the right of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms; …or to prevent the people from petitioning , in a peaceable and orderly manner; or to subject the people to unreasonable searches and seizures of their persons, papers or possessions.” -Sam Adams
"To these (federal troops attempting to impose tyranny) would be opposed a militia amounting to near half a million of citizens with arms in their hands.”“Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.. (where) ..the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” -James Madison
“To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…”“A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.” -Ricard Henry Lee
“The great object is, that every man be armed…. Every one who is able may have a gun.”- Patrick Henry
“The people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full possession of them.”-Zacharia Johnson

13 AnswersPolitics9 years agoHow can anyone say this tax system is fair?
I am getting ready to file my return and between my wife and i we are getting back $4350 we paid in $14360 we bought a cheap house so we don't have enought intrest to meet the minimum deduction. However coworker, whose wife doesn't work and they've got to kids, paid in $4800 and showed me his return (only because i didn't believe him) he's getting $14670. Now I know that they bought a new house so they get that bull crap incentive but thats only like 8K i think so hes still getting back $1870 more than he even paid in. Why does he get paid for being over extended and my wife and i get punished for being resposible would really like to hear a democrats idea on how this is right
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhy do i have wrist pain?
I have had a sharp pain in my wrist for a week and a half. The only thing I can think of that could cause it was cutting a loading about three cords of firewood. Definitely did not sprain it or jam it in any way. The pain is on the palm side of my wrist and it feels like if you followed my thumb bone through my hand the pain would be in the area it meets the wrist. It hurts only under certain types of movement and only in certain positions. I'm wondering if anyone knows what this sound like and what I can do to remedy the pain and if anything would keep it from occurring again (exercises or stretches)? Hope this is enough info Thanks

1 AnswerPolitics1 decade agohave any of you had instances where federal health care would have been bad for you personally?
I have when i was 21 i wrecked an ATV and shattered my lower leg in 13 places and blew my knee completely apart. When I went to the emergency room i was all jacked up on morphine and couldn't remember if i had insurance or not so they assumed it would be a medic aide claim they were just going to cast me up. But because I had a good health insurance as they later found out I was scheduled with a great surgeon who told be i would have lost approx 15% of my movement but because of the surgery i only lost 3% I would have lost my livelihood if not for Private Health Care this is just my example
9 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoHow important is it to have a VR lens?
I am going to buy a Nikon D90 it comes with a 18-105 VR lens but I also want something with more zoom. I am looking at a 70-300mm But the difference in price from standard AF to AF VR is like $400. Most of the pictures I will be taking with this lens will be landscapes in the Rockys and Yellowstone so for a still focal point how important is the VR and is it really worth the money

11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDoes anyone think the fall of the USSR had a negative effect on the US?
It seems to me when the Soviets were threating to take over Europe we were loved and after there fall our image declined this was long before Bush. Am I the only one that feels this way? Has Western Europe forgotten our efforts to keep them safe?
