  • Property Management wants me to sign my privacy away?

    I'm applying to rent a house. The company that is managing the country wants me to sign a paper that states "I/we authorize you to provide to {Management company} any and all information and documentation that they request."

    This seems WAY to open ended to me. Is this normal? How dangerous would it be to sign?

  • Facebook like button not showing up in webpage I'm developing?

    I'm designing a web page and it's been a while since I had to integrate any Facebook plug-ins. I'm trying to throw a generic like button in (pointing to facebook.com/platform) so that I can finish styling the page around it but it's not showing up.

    I'm taking the code directly from http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plug... but there is nothing showing up. To test it I've pretty much stripped the page bare except for the code from Facebook. It renders the page blank (with a few complaints about Facebook's CSS).

    I'm working in Notepad++ with "Launch in Firefox" (IE does the same). Is it because it's local? If I sent it to my Web Server would it work?

    I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious..................... Any ideas?

  • Is my graphics card broken?

    It crashed spectacularly then wouldn't boot for a while. I managed to get into Safe Mode and disable the graphics card, so now it boots but with obviously poor graphics etc. At one point Device Manager said it was reporting a problem.

    Is there any chance that the card doesn't need replaced? What checks should I do?

  • When signing for a package what am I legally stating?

    When I sign for the package am I legally stating just that I have received the package? Or something more? Am I accepting the condition of the goods as they have arrived (i.e. should I make the courier wait while I open the box and check that the contents are undamaged before signing?)

  • IT related employment test. What to study?

    Hiya,

    I've been told that as part of an employment interview process I will be taking an IT-related test.

    I would like to study for the test. Is it likely to be a general basic IT test or will it be for the programming languages I would be using in the position... I had assumed the later but I don't want to show up with my head brimming with php if the test is going to be on something else!

    Any guesses?

  • Server-side program to analyze the colour of images?

    I would like a server-side program that can analyze an image to decide it's predominant color (i.e. R,O,Y,G,B,I,V) And then perhaps rate the dominance of that colour. Somewhat like Etsy are doing here: http://www.etsy.com/color.php?ref=fp_nav_colors.

    What do you think would be the best way to do this? Language, etc.

    Thanks!

  • Why is my php /cURL proxy dropping my file?

    Please help! I'm losing my mind a little here.

    I am trying to forward my form output through a PHP /cURL proxy to a remote server. Everything seems to work fine until I try to submit a file (image) with the form. (Ultimately I am going to be using JavaScript / XMLHttpRequest but I'm using the straight form for simplicity at the mo) I've tried a million and one different things but I keep getting the error "No Image uploaded" from the server.

    So this is the form info on the first page:

    <form id="UploadImg" action="proxy.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data">

    and the the proxy:

    define ('HOSTNAME', 'http://example.net/WebServices/');

    $path = $_POST['ws_path'];

    $url = HOSTNAME.$path;

    $session = curl_init($url);

    $postvars = "AuthCode=". $_POST['AuthCode']. "&img=". $HTTP_POST_FILES['img']['tmp_name']."&title=". urlencode($_POST['title']) ."&desc=". urlencode($_POST['desc']);

    curl_setopt ($session, CURLOPT_POST, true);

    curl_setopt ($session, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $postvars);

    curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_REFERER, TRUE);

    curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);

    curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);

    // Make the call

    $xml = curl_exec($session);

    // This web service returns plain text. Set the Content-Type appropriately

    header("Content-Type: text/plain");

    echo $xml;

    curl_close($session);

  • Why are so many good vegan questions being deleted?

    There was a good one about rodeos a while ago that had a LOT of good answers I was enjoying reading it. There was also one about children that I wrote out and referenced a really good long answer too and now it's gone. There's a few more that I was sad to see deleted. So what gives?

    Are people complaining about the questions or what?

  • How much would I need to open a shop?

    How much would I need to put down on a retail rental property usually?

    Wondering about a retail property in the Glasgow city centre. I'm nowhere near ready to approach an actual agent - just need an idea. Would I usually need to put down, for example, 1st month plus 1 month deposit? Or is it very different?

  • Best Vegan Butter in the UK?

    I'm looking for good vegan 'butter' alternatives in the UK. Something I can ask my local store to stock. I'm using Pure soya spread just now and it's okay, it's just not the most flavourful spread I've tried, but it's the only thing I can find locally.

    I tried Earth Balance when I was in the States and I loved it but it doesn't seem to be available here.

  • Omeprazole vegetarian supplier?

    I'm looking for a supplier of Omeprazole that uses vegetarian (preferably vegan) capsules.

    I've checked my two nearest suppliers and they both have gelatin, one also has shellac.

    If you have the prescription could you check the ingredients listed on the patient information slip in the box for gelatin, shellac, or lactose? Thanks a bunch!

  • Should I go for the .co.uk or the .com if it is available?

    I am starting a small business in the UK. Should I get the .co.uk domain or go for the .com? I ask because I can get a discount at GoDaddy for the .com but not the .co.uk. Would the .co.uk be better for a UK business?

  • Should I replace my computers power supply?

    I want to see if you agree with my assessment that the power supply needs replacing.

    The computer worked fine yesterday. This morning when I pressed the power button, instead of turning quickly from amber to blue (the button itself lights up) and booting up, the button stayed at amber, flickered on and off for a little bit (while I panicked) then shut down. It will not start up again, there is no sign that it is receiving power at all...
