2 AnswersHomework Help1 decade agoPlease can some one PLEASE look over this paragraph and tell me ANY corrections to make?
Moreover, a concept that explains the loss of individuality in groups or crowds is known as the Deindividuation. Psychologists propose that there is no concept of free will, whoever it maybe, they are bound to give in to the temptations of doing what everyone else is doing in anonymous crowds. For example the researchers, locals, and other authorities in the Tuskegee’s Syphilis Study gave in their individuality in order to belong to a group that they thought aimed for only well. This concept revolves around the extreme cases of diffusion of responsibility in which the people of a group tend to avoid taking actions, responsibility, or decisions thinking that other people would do the same in their position. For instance in a large group of people it is easy for someone to lose themselves and do whatever they are doing and not feel that you can be held accountable for your actions which directly relates to the authorities and the researcher involved in Tuskegee’s study . Results have shown that deindividuation increases the willingness to harm a stranger, cheat, or break the law (Aronson, Wilson and Akort, 2002). It explains the behavior of locals at the time of the Tuskegee’s Syphilis Study for not raising any questions or doing anything to stop the mistreatment of the African Americans. It is also known that wearing a disguise can increase the chances of deindividuation. In an experiment women who wore Ku Klux Klan disguises covering from head to toes gave twice as much electric shock in contrast to the other women in who wore large name tags (Zimbardo, 1970). Similarly the authoritarian disguise of the people conducting the Tuskegee’s Syphilis Study failed to take responsibility for their wrong doings in the name of “natural history” when they denied treatments to African-American in the syphilis study.
i would really appreciate it ASAP thanks
