A favour for a drink question?
So we are having our gas boiler serviced next week and our engineer said he will give us for free some spare parts for our boiler should we ever need them. We asked him how much he would like for them and he just said ' just buy me a drink' so my question is how much do you think we should give? I was thinking £20? Or would this be too little? Or too much? Thanks
6 AnswersEtiquette8 years agoAmerican chocolate and crisp question?

What I want to know is in america do they have the equivelent of ' cadburys creme eggs' they are small chocolate eggs, about the size of a hens egg and inside is white and yellow fondant!?
Also do they have 'prawn cocktail' crisp flavour in america? Thanks for any help :-)

8 AnswersToddler & Preschooler8 years agoSchool run traffic? :-)?
Hi,
Im sure anyone who does a school run can understand this problem, the thing is what can be done about it?
The mad and crazy driving of parents, cars parked badly, cars driving on the pavement, speeding, 1000s of children crossing the road .. The list goes on!
At my daughters school they are not elligable for a lollypop lady, the parking is limited, and the school is at the end of a cul de sac.
Does anyone have any ideas on how we can help to ' remind' drivers to calm down during the school rush?
6 AnswersParenting8 years agonintendo Ds games similar to mario?
my 5 year old daughter has ds, she loves playing mario on it, and to be honest, its one of the easyier games for her to do, she does have other games, such as tinkerbell, which you would imagine to be good for her age group, but there is alot of reading to go with the game, although she can read many words, this level is too advanced for her and she cant play the game by herself.
i know there are other games aimed for younger ages such as peppa pig, dora ect, but these are a bit too young for her and she does get bored quick.
As i said she loves mario, and i know there are many different games of mario, i was just wondering if there is anything which is played in the same way as mario/ like other plat form games that would suit a 5 year old?
thanks for any help
1 AnswerVideo & Online Games9 years agohow could i find out if i was actually greated by my granma and grandad?
almost 5 years ago i gave birth to my daughter, the birth way quite frightfull, and i ended up in intensive care, lost alot of blood and was almost touch and go wether id make it. any way, i dont actually remember much of what happened , but what i do very distinctly remember is being in a dream , where i met met my gran ( who had died about 2 years previously) , and with her was another man, who i didnt know. i remember my gran telling me how wonderfull my baby was and that she liked the name i had picked for her. then the man , was helping me walk along by placing stepping stones out infront of me and told me to step on them and take small carefull steps.
i also remember hearing two older teeneage boys, may of about 18-19 years, they looks like twin, and they were sniggering or joking about, they reminded me of beavis and buthead (lol) .
it did take me a while to come to grips with what happened when i was in hospital , and these dreams , did kind of freak me out a little. i spoke to a couple of nurses about them , they said somtimes when you are not fully aware of what is going on around you , you brain cannot take all what is going on properly. she mentioned that a couple of porters are like twins and they do often joke around , so i could have possible noticed them.
the man that was helping me to walk she said sounded like one of the doctors, just from the discriptions i gave , although when i met the doctor he was nothing like the man i saw.
in the last few weeks i have been thinking about this and for some reason i m thinking the man could have been my grandad. i never met him , only seen him in photos, but he does kind of seem to fit in if that makes sense.
im trying to see if there would be a wayof finding out who this man was? should i see a spiritualist ? or does any one have any ideas of what mighthelp . thank you
4 AnswersMythology & Folklore9 years agotide times .. please explain :)?
i would like to know a little about tide times, I have few questions to ask :)
1) how long does the sea stay at low tide?
2) how long does the sea take to change from low tide to high tide.
3) how long does the sea stay at high tide.
4) how long does it take to go back to low tide.
i have tried looking it up, but the answers i have found do not seem to make sense, for example i have found that the sea stays at low tide for 6 hours , then takes 6 hours to reach high tide, then at high tide its stays at high tide for 25 mins, then takes 6 hours to go back to low tide, ( all approximate i know ) but i have just looked up a local tide time for todays tides, and going by these patterns the high and low tide times are way off !
Thanks for your help

6 AnswersParenting9 years agoselling my car, tricks of the buyers?
about a year ago we sold one of our cars, we put the ad on a car website, and some guy rang up within 2 hours of placing the add, seeming really keen on th car, claiming her was coming from 300 miles away , so asked us our lowest price over the phone before coming to view the car, then when he saw the car he tried to bid us down on price even lower ( we didnt go lower then agreed over the phone) He was trying to pull our heart strings abit by saying he really liked the car ( even though it wasnt anything special ) but he had travelled a long way ect to try anf get the price lower.
anyway he bought it .
Now last night we placed another add for our car we want to sell , and within an hour someone called us , asking a few details, saying they are from the same place over 300 miles away, trying to bid us down on price before they see it .
Is this just some common trader man trick to try and get us to go down on price? and they may just be from a few miles up the road...
does anyone know what kind of tricks traders play when buying cars from privatly owned people >?
3 AnswersBuying & Selling10 years agoengagement gift idea?
my brother proposed to his girlfriend last night, and i would like to get them a small gift. I know the usual type of gift idea is " something for the bottom drawer" , crockery, vases, photo frame, kitchen ware etc, but they have already been living together for 4 years and already have all of that kind of thing. I did also think of a lovely bottle of champagne, but his future wife is expecting a baby, so i doubt that would go down too well. I have also thought of sending flowers, or a gift token , but I would rather give a gift so they can have something to keep , Im just not really sure what . Any ideas? Thanks for your help ;)

3 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agomy daughter has an imaginary friend?
my daughter has developed , not one but 2 imaginary friends.
the developed just after she started preschool, about a couple months ago, and untill this week i thought they were actually real children she had been playing with.My daughter still does have a big issue every morning about me dropping her her so im thinking her imaginary friends "LUCY and JAMES" are kind of like a comfort replacement for mummy ? but idk . Her imaginary friends only appear at school, she has never said anything like " is playing with me " or what ever at home .
But the other day , while at a firework display , Lucy started to appear. As we were going home , my daughter said, "mummy , lucy was at the fireworks" and still thinking she was real , i asked her why didnt she say hello then . My daughter told me Lucy was being very naughty and was touching the bonfire! A bit confused i just thought perhaps because it was dark she may have just seen somone that looked like lucy . I thought nothing of it.
Then the other day we were shopping and i bought muy daughter a new jumper, that evening ,my daughter was talking to the grandparents on the phone about her new jumper , then she said " lucy was there too , and she got a jumper like mine "
So this morning i asked one of the teachers if there was a lucy or a james at the nursery , and of course niether of them exsist.
So my questions/ worries are , should i still continue to talk to my daughter as if her friends are real, should i ask my daughter if her friends are real , should i be worried that she dosnt seem to have real friends , as until now i was thinking lucy was her best friend and that she was getting on ok at nursery and making friends.
thanks so much for any comments.

2 AnswersKnown Issues1 decade agotips for preschool worries?
my daughter started preschool just over a week ago, i know its still early days, but she constantly kicks up a fuss about the whole idea.
on her first day she was fine, all excited went in said goodbye and off she went. the teacher said there had been a few tears, but on the whole ok.
from then on it has been a constant battle, as soon as she wakes she will moan about not wanting to go, cry, shout, have paddys ect. this continues the whole time untill i drop her off.
Once she is in the teacher says she settles very quickley and starts to colour or play or what ever.
When i collect her she starts to moan again saying she dosnt want to go again.
Like i said before i know its still early days and its the first time she has ever been looked after byanyone else outside of family.
ive asked her why she dosnt want to go and she just says "it stinks" or she wants me to stay.
When she is at home playing she uses her dollys to reinact things she has done at school and it seems like she is enjoying it.
Im hoping for some tips which could help ease the worry or build up of going to preschool.
thanks so much

1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler1 decade agopreschool blues .....?
My daughter has turned 3 and last week started her preschool. Before she started she had taster days , whereI stayed with her, I bought her books on starting preschool and we often walked past the school where she was going to go, I did all i could think of to get her used to the idea.
She seemed excited and couldnt wait to start. She had her first morning , said goodbye fine and went off to play, the staff said she had a few tears , but not much .
Ever since her first day , she has been constantly saying she dosnt want to go , crys all the way there, crys very loudly when the teacher opens the door. Even at the wekend when she didnt have to go , she saw my hanging up her clean school uniform and she started crying and saying she didnt want to go .
She has woken in the night too saying she dosnt want to go .
Once she is there and starts playing or painting or wheatever she quietens down and is fine, when i pick her up she tells me about all the fun things she has been doing, so it seems she enjoys it there.
Im just trying to get some ideas what i can do to make the build up of actually going a bit less of a worry for her . Any ideas?
