Im 15 Im currently producing my own BSJA horse known as Pop at home. Currently schooling over 1m-1m15 courses at home and jumping upto 1m40 singular jumps. Had a Thoroughbred mare who taught me how to ride after 8years of riding school lessons. Then a nutty Arab who i completely re-schooled to ride and jump. Feel free to add me on facebook - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1335725414 Ask me anything :)

  • what is he actually thinking?

ive recently started talking to this boy, at first we were flirting like mad but then we ended up talking normally over text and ended up becoming close friends.

The only thing i dont understand is he claims 'were just friends, i dont mean too seem into you'

So in any other situation i would accept this and move on but his behaviour is confusing me

Ill wake up every morning to a 'good morning text' he'll text me throughout the entire day, he texts me until he almost falls asleep

He claims he loves my personality, finds me attractive and he loves talking to me and he always makes the sly joke about 'us' eg kissing or whatever

Maybe ive just completely misread all his messages, but could someone help please?

  • jumping comp tommorow..help?

ok i have a fab 15hh gelding who does 1m40 singular and 1m20 courses at home with ease

he only young so hes a tad tempermental with fillers..

ive entered him for a 90cm & 95cm qualifiers tommorow

hes well capable of the height but im worried about the fillers

im not nervous because its a competition, because ive been to a lot

its just i want him to do well

and im worried he'll back off at the fillers

last time we went there he napped really badly but it was raining and he doesnt jump in rain- dont ask me why .. he just doesnt enjoy it !

he does jump fillers infact he jumps most and every other comp weve been too recently hes jumped them.. just hes used to doing a smaller class first to 'look' at the fillers and then i do my more serious class

    i just want some advise

    NO CRIT

i know how to ride and what im doing !

    Thanks

  • i need help trailer wise?

i have the money to compete my pony regularly but not enough to pay for regular transport and we cant afford our own box any ideas???

    2 AnswersHorses1 decade ago
  • OK, i need advise tack wise..?

right im experienced and i've had my horse for 8months but had horses before.

Hes a four year old, 15.2hh gelding whos a allrounder

hes fed a normal mix and chaff on the suggested levels and hes in good condition

he was always more on the lazy side but never so much i had too carry a whip he's always been responsive enough but he does find schooling a little dull

for schooling hes in a basic metal egbutt snaffle and snaffle bridle when i hack out i put a standing martingale on him but hes very strong unless were infront, then i basically need no contact and can use voice commands to stop him.

with him being so young i dont want to change his bit, full stop.

but hes very very strong when out, and i have doubt if i could stop without the standing martingale, do you think a grakle noseband etc may help me gain more control when out or any other suggestions? thanks

  • i need help with my new horse please?

ok so i recently got a new horse, 7 weeks on friday, ive already competed on him and done lots with him already but here's the problem. i went on holiday for a week last week and i've been back four days, he's usually a bit ploddy but once he's going he's fine and stops when i twitch the reins slightly. But yesterday i hacked him out and on the way out cantering he stopped but he was more stronger and im not sure if he just stopped because we always stop there, and on the way back when we cantered i couldn't stop i had to pull with one rein very hard so his head turned and he couldn't run forwards anymore and the second time he didn't stop till he got spooked by something, he was also more spritey and spooky than anything. and here's the facts --

he has the most basic tack , egbutt snaffle bit and caverson bridle

    he's 4years old

    usually ploddy ish

    not spooky much

and he's changed since ive came back on holiday

he was looked after by a reliable friend and checked everyday, she rode him twice in the school and out once walking. so he was only ridden 2/8 days pproperlythan a normal 6or7/8 he's just so not like him and i really need him too go back to normal, any ideas?

    thanks :)

  • My new horse & problems ?

OK, so i have recently bought a 4 year old gelding, trotter x dales, black 15.1hh. He was used in a riding school for 6 months before me and that was his only home. He was fully vet checked when i bought him and he passed no problem.

I have put him in the exact same saddle and i got no bridle with him but bought a snaffle hunter bridle with an eggbutt snaffle bit which was what he was in in the riding school. Ive owned him fr 2 weeks today. Now hes brill but heres the problems.

1- he trips up, i know thisisn'tt his fault directly but he's being clumsy. I need a way to fix this before he harms himself

2- he plays with his bit , and its the squeakiest bit ever! is this okay ?

3- heisn'tt very responsive to turn, i can only manage widesweepingn turns on him - anyway to help this ?

4- hes a bad "follower", obviously after being at a riding school hes always trying to follow the first horse he sees so if a horse canters off he will and he naps abit if he is asked to turn away from horses also it means on hacks i have to be quite heavy handed to stop.

Answers much appreciated :) thanks :)

  • OK, SHOULD I GET THIS HORSE? ? ?

IM so totally confused on what to do ??!?

OKAY. so im looking for a horse with the guidelines being like this :

    14-15hh

    gelding or mare

    any age within reason

    any colour

    good allrounder

    specifically safe && good jumper

prefer experienced horse but with right temp i would be happy to bring on a little...

Now heres the horse i viewed (walked, trotted, cantered and jumped 2ft3 ish)

    14.3hh

    gelding

    black

    5YEARS OLD

safe hack ( so im told-yet to hack)

    sweet gentle temp

    NOT BEEN TO SHOWS

has occasionally been used in riding lessons but isn't riding school pony

I just don't know if i should get such a young horse ?

also my friend said "safe" riding school horses are or can be full of energy when the come to there new home as there simply shattered at there previous home. is this possible??

also im not sure how well he'd deal with the move??

and with the right temp do you think he'd be suitable??

also i have had horses before

    this isn't my first horse

ive been around horses for 8years and im a competent rider.

    Just to get that cleared...

    Many thanks Jade..

im just afraid of the unknown to be honest, he's young and un-experienced (shows etc)and change- as some young horses find this diffficult to deal with

and ive only been to various yard shows, last place i went in trailer was the beach and xc course and my ex horse bolted and nearly got hit by a car :/

i rode him tonight for the 2nd time and jumped 3ft 6 he never hesitated and lots of canters - never felt so safe jumping in my life!

also i only intend to do little local shows/yard shows and not to bothered about competing to be honest just wanna go out there and have some fun :)
