  • For older readers of Twilight, do you feel this way?

I, a guy, I finally caved and I started reading Twilight...and you know what? I'm actually liking it. I was in Barnes and Noble just looking around and I saw it. I actually wrestled with myself over picking it and I'm thinking, what am I afraid of? I was twenty one reading the Harry Potter series about four years ago. I'm seeing other adults read it too, so I figure...why the hell not? What do I have to lose?

Every time I come here it's Twilight this and that, and why it sucks and Edward this and you know what? I like it already because of one simple reason: I was simply sucked in. I couldn't put it down. That is the sign of good work. Is it the best? Probably not, but...I really can't explain it. I feel the same way when I read Harry Potter, Jarhead, White Oleander, My Sister's Keeper, Moneyball, The Godfather...

So I've guess I've officially joined the club. I also got New Moon, and I hope to get the series read before Breaking Dawn. Do you feel this way too?

  • About "My Sister's Keeper"...am the only one who thought this? (Spoilers)?

I mean, did anyone else that Anna dying in the car crash was a cheap deux ex machina?

I got the feeling that Kate wanted to die from the beginning (and understandibly so considering what she went through) because she never tore into Anna for wanting her freedom, so the twist where she admits Kate actually wanted to die didn't surprise me so much.

I was expecting a downer ending, but it felt so rushed. As soon as the car crash happened, I knew...here we go. My initial thought was that it was an excuse to kill of Anna and give Kate the kidney anyway. I understand the idea of Kate having to live with the guilt of Anna's death, but I think it should been fleshed out

I just felt that last narrative should have been from Anna about Kate dying. That would have been more sad to me. After all, Kate wanted to die anyway, right? It's a sad ending either way, right? What do you guys think? Am I off base here?

Don't get me wrong, I loved the book. I'm reading 19 Minutes next.

  • Any good books about the Bosnian Conflict?

I'm working a novel now, and when I get writer's block I just read novels. So, I was thinking about my next novel idea, which partally takes place during the Bosnian Conflict. Part of it has an Eastern Europe/Russian feel to it and I was looking for any fiction or non-fiction books about that period; preferably fiction I can read.

I was told of one, what is it...Letters from Sariejvo or something. Any help would be appreciated.

  • What is the legal procedure after a robbery where homicide is invovled?

Okay, I'm writing a novel and one of the scenes in it occurs during a hold up at a gas station. Well, it's not really a hold up...since the lead guy comes in guns blazing and kills the cashier. One of the people in the store ends up killing two of the robbers in self defense.

Now, how is this situation handled in real life? Do the police have to determine if it was in fact self defense? What exactly goes on? Are they interrogated? Do they have to come to the police station? Does it vary by state? Any help would be appreciated.
