  • Workers Comp (Tax) in CA question?

A friend says that ALL employees have workers compensation paid by the employer at the beginning of the year, and each employee is given a specific employee ID number to use in case of injury. My employer says that Workers Comp is payed by the employer at the end of the year based off of hours worked, and claims to have no knowledge of an employee ID number. Which, if either, is right? I'm concerned my boss is somehow NOT paying workers compensation on me, and that could mean a slew of bad bad things . . . anyone know anything about this? Thanks

  • Sketchy work questions?

I'm a young dude, live in CA - I recently got my boss to admit he's not paying state and federal taxes for me (only social security, medicare, and some CASDI thing) and that HE pays me back my refund at the end of the year. Can he do that and it still be legal? I can't figure if he's screwing me or not. Any help/insight would be great.
