  • Is there a benefit to naming a child's developmental delay?

As a parent of a child with some sensory, speech and social developmental delays, I want to know if anyone can offer benefits for seeking to place a label on the delays he is having to overcome.

I suspect that if we spend a fortune in medical bills and push our way through the halls of pediatric medicine, we will be told that our son is "on the autistic spectrum". However, given how broadly that "spectrum" is now being defined, I question whether or not there is any value to the diagnosis. It seems like almost everyone could be classified somewhere on that spectrum.

Don't misunderstand, we, as parents, are aware of his challenges and he has regular speech and occupational therapy. But, he starts school next year, and I don't want him officially labeled by the school system unless someone can give me really darn good reasons to do so.

  • Do you have any tips for converting home tours into purchase offers?

Like many people out there, our home has been on the market for a bit longer than we had planned (7 months of living apart from my family). We are quite pleased with the amount of traffic our home is getting - an average of one new tour every day. However, none of the houses in our area are moving (13 houses for sale in our 85 home upper-middle class neighborhood)! While I understand that a slow market is just that, does anyone have suggestions for how to help convert the tours into offers.

We have reduced our price and are now the lowest priced home our size in the area. We have offered cash back at closing. We have held a broker caravan to get feedback on how the home shows, and fixed EVERYTHING they mentioned.

Basically, I am asking YA because we are out of fresh ideas and our real estate agent is ready to pull her hair out too...

    Thanks for your input!

  • How do I write this "if" formula in Excel?

If the value in cell A1 is between two fixed values, I want to perform a particular function. However, I can't get Excel to recognize the formula the way I am trying to write it. Could someone please correct the following simplified version of what I am trying to achieve?

    =if(100<A1>200,A1*.5,0)
