  • Comments wanted for this poem (is it funny-or not-or would you call it risque?)?

One hot day in June back in nineteen seventy-four,

my two little girls were locked outside a screen door.

In our back yard was where they were to be at play

while we enjoyed ourselves (in our own way) that day.

In order to relieve desires we had built up beau-coup,

we retired to the bedroom for an great rendezvous.

Way back in those days we were still in our prime

and were having ourselves a very wonderful time.

Her moaning might well have been misconstrued

as we rolled and writhed around completely nude.

"What are you doing? Are you hurting mommy?"

Was the question that interrupted the intimacy.

I looked. Two small heads at the foot of the bed

wanted an answer. I had a blank mind instead.

But my wife was so quick with a very great reply

that was possible, even if it was a complete lie.

"Mommy was cold so daddy is keeping me warm,"

she answered with a straight face so as to inform.

"If you are cold then where are all of your clothes?"

(We were stark naked from our head to our toes).

Our three year old was too smart for her own good.

However my wife was ready with another falsehood.

"Daddy just took a shower and now I'll take mine.

Why aren't you outside enjoying the sunshine?"

"We're hungry mommy. We want some food."

Trust our daughters to destroy a great mood.

As my wife took a shower, I just grabbed my pants

And hoped they'd not remember this circumstance.

So I then served them sandwiches and some milk

and hoped the future would run as smooth as silk.

I don't know how much they saw and would not ask.

just making sure they forgot was now my new task.

I talked about their toys and then read them a book

I acted like nothing was wrong--no embarrassed look.

We were just lucky we weren't in a real erotic position.

It would have been difficult explaining that kind of action.

So in retrospect, it could have been much worse

and that is just how I will choose to end my verse.

The innocent ones quickly forgot and moved on.

So in the end result there was no real harm done.

Additional detail: The screen door would come open if one yanked hard enough. We didn't know that but the little stinkers did.
