I don't have an audio example, but is there a specific name for this kind of jazz I've heard a lot of? It's like, usually has an acoustic guitar in it, and a flute. Typically some kind of percussion that doesn't sound like a drum set. The tempo is usually a medium tempo, and it's always in a major key.

I recently noticed some ads for cloud.google.com's.... services. I went ahead and signed in on it and I have no clue what it does. I'm still messing around with it, but from what I can tell, it's some kind of... development platform? Under the developer tools I see multiple sdk's and ide-related things. It it used for creating cloud-based software and deploying it? Or am i confused? Is there somewhere on here that I can type out code, compile it, and maybe send the program to a friend or something, and it runs on the google cloud infrastructure? These tools seem like they're more geared towards businesses. Honestly I'll probably never use any of this stuff, but it's been a while since I've gone to a website and had absolutely no idea what I was looking at. Thanks for reading.

Frankly, it looks really nice. Is there any way to get my metro to look like this? At first i thought it was the desktop since it has the taskbar at the bottom, but i took a closer look and i think i see a desktop tile (the one that looks like a pic of a boat) which implies this is the metro. But i could be wrong, that might be a gallery or something and this is a desktop with tiles on it? Im not sure, seeing tiles and a taskbar is throwing me off.

To the point, I cant figure out how to do any of this-

The programs tile,

the custom background on the metro,

the taskbar on the metro,

the cool text-based stuff (day of the week, rss, notes etc)

If anyone knows how to alter the appearance of the metro/desktop to be similar to this, I'd really appreciate it!

I installed ubuntu alongside windows 7 using the default os picking software that comes with ubuntu.

I LOVE ubuntu and use it all the time.

However, a friend got me a complimentary copy of windows 8. So i installed it on the partition windows 7 was on, and now the os picking software is gone, and the pc boots straight into windows 8.

I thought it would be easy to fix, i read that running the ubuntu installation dvd and "repairing" the installation would fix the problem.

Thing is, the ubuntu installation dvd doesbt recognize either win8 or ubuntu! I know for a fact that theyreboth there.

How can i get my os picker back without reinstalling windows or ubuntu?

I have 2 pc's running ubuntu 12.04. I want to be able to interact with machine A's terminal using machine B's terminal. What is the easiest way to do this? I've tried telnet but i always get permission denied. Thanks in advance!

Okay. So. I downloaded the flv codec for windows media player and it works great. So now i wanna get rid of realplayer. However, i use the included flv downloader quite often. So i was wondering if there was a way to download a video from a website without an flv downloader? I tried going on animefreak.tv and playing a megavideo video, then finding the url in the source code and downloading the file from that url. But all that gave me was the initial button-click-followed-by-ad in a swf. Is there any way to download a video without having to download more software? If its possible through the "view page source" then please let me know. Or if theres some other way to do it, let me know. I dont care if it isnt flv. I just want to be able to get the file. Ill find the codecs later if need be.

okay. so. I love final fantasy for some reasons, and i hate it for others. i dont generally like rpgs, but the stories and music keep me loving the games enough to play through em. Ive played through a few, but final fantasy xii was my favorite so far, because the combat system was so much more exciting. Either way, ive already downloaded the ffxiii soundtrack, and i love it. ive seen the graphics and theyre amazing. I just have to ask -- no spoilers -- is the story good? i dont want to buy a game that i wont really want. story and music, if good enough, can be the ONLY reason i play a game. just let me know if the plot is captivating or not. thanks!

So, i play piano/keyboard and i sing. For a project for my world history class, we're supposed to find something in any time period of any culture that was supposedly "magical" and recreate it. i thought it would be creative if i could find some songs that were supposedly magical, and play one or two. However, im having trouble finding any songs like this for any instrument, let alone piano. If anyone knows some songs that were said to have magic powers please share them! i dont care if they arent written for piano specifically, i can arrange them myself if necessary. i really think my project will outdo everyone elses ;)

So, im a long time nintendo fan. Mario, zelda, and metroid are at the top of my list of favorite game series; however, that doesnt mean im a console specific person. After running out of really good titles for the wii, I got an xbox 360. The games i have currently include Elder Scrolls IV, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Portal 2, and Halo 3. I was a huge fan of the first installments of the halo series, but halo 3 was lacking in terms of story length; i beat it in a day. Same with portal 2. I feel like Elder Scrolls IV will be lengthy enough, but i recently bought Deus Ex 3 and i have a feeling it'll be over soon. Frankly, im SICK of these super short games. I want you guys to tell me the best games to get in terms of story and length. I dont care about graphics, and i'll play any genre that isnt turn-based rpg. Im huge into scifi games, and virtually any fps. I WANT LENGTH AND QUALITY PLEASE. Sorry for the huge question. I'm just really sick of short games and dont know where to turn. Please help.

Okay. So, im trying to find a cable that will let me connect an RCA-out to a monitor. For example, i want to plug a video game system into a monitor. I know they make console-specific ones, but i want one that can accept all of my consoles (not all at one time, of course). I dont care about audio. I just want to plug a yellow video out into a monitor. I AM NOT TRYING TO CONNECT MY PC TO A TV. i managed to find one adapter that would do this, but it did a lot of other things as well and was bulky and i didnt wanna pay for the extra features i wouldnt use. please help. anytime i search it on amazon or google i get vga to rca cables, male on both ends; this is the opposite of what i want, female on both ends.

I've been using reason 4 for a few months now and i just want some feedback on how i can improve my songs to make them sound more professional. Ive only recently begun playing with reverb and other effects.

Any kind of tips would be appreciated. Also, should i use reverb on bass, or is that a never-do-that kind of thing?

Do more complex drum beats sound better than less complex one, or does it really depend on the song/audience?

FINALLY, i managed to buy a copy of Deus Ex - Invisible War for PC. I know, i know, the game is fairly dated now. But im having an issue. i got everything installed and set up properly, but whenever i go to a new map and the load screen comes up, it stops responding. its not a HUGE deal, cuz i can end the task, then reopen the game, at which point it resumes the load and it works fine. But it's, of course, annoying. If anyone knows why this is happening and how i can fix it, please let me know.

So. I've recently discovered the entertainment potential of PC gaming. I've downloaded just about every console emulator out there, and i just recently bought halo 2 for PC. However, the more complex emulators don''t run at full speed. My PS2 emulator won't run above 80% except on small maps, and my GameCube emulator won't run above 50% except on small maps. Also, my halo 2 frame rate is sub-par, even at the lowest resolution. Playable, but still not where i want it to be. To the point, i need to know whether it's my video card or my processor i need to replace. Or maybe even something else.

I'm new to computer hardware, so i have no idea where to start. My "windows experience index" base score is 3.3, and it says its based off of the lowest subscore. That subscore comes from my gaming graphics and graphics, so theyre both a 3.3. My processor's rating is a 4.4. I'm not sure if this information is relevant, but oh well.

Im pretty sure the name of my video card is the "Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family." Thats what it says under both name and chip type of the display tab on the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

Im pretty sure my processor is a "Intel Celeron CPU 900 @ 2.20GHz 2.19GHz."

Now, from researching, i know im not the first person to ask this question. But i can't find any answers relating to my specific case. I have 64-bit windows, and really theres only one big issue. My casio wk-110 midi workstation doesnt work with my computer because there's no 64-bit driver. I've tried everything from calling casio asking why they wont make a 64 bit driver to attempting to use drivers meant for other midi keyboards. The only thing i want to use my computer for is games (mostly gameboy and n64 emulators) and writing music (which i use reason 4 for.) But i cantt write music iff i cant use my keyboard. I just want to know if downgrading to 32-bit (i am aware i'll lose all of my personal settings and files) would affect my computer's performance in a way where it wouldnt be worth it. Thanks.

I have the project 64 emulator, and im looking into buying an adaptoid for an n64 controller. i have an n64 controller already. but, my laptop is 64-bit windows 7. ive had some issues with some drivers for hardware in the past that wasnt compatible with 64-bit. Im not sure how all this stuff works, so i was wondering if an adaptoid would work with my computer or not. this is the specific one im going to get:

A few Christmases ago, my parents graciously bought me an awesome casio workstation keyboard, despite the tight funds at the time. It was a casio wk-110. I played it nonstop for days straight, and it is quite possibly the best thing ive ever received in my life. A few months into playing it, i even noticed something on it, printed in small text, "General MIDI." I did research and whatnot, and learned what that meant, and what my keyboard could do. From that point forward, i began saving up for a laptop. I just recently bought the computer I'm typing with now.

I ordered reason 4 with the funding assistance of my parents. I spent nearly a month learning everythign there is to know about reason 4.

I found out what size usb cable i needed, bought it, and grabbed the disc that held the midi driver for my keyboard. I put it in, then encountered... an issue.

My brand new computer runs on 64-bit windows 7. im not sure what that measn except that my 32-bit midi driver isnt compatible and verily renders my keyboard useless as far as reason 4 and other music software goes.

It's been too long, and ive been trying to find answers. i came across something that said if i use a midi cable, i dont have to worry about a driver. So then, i looked it up, and found a usb-midi converter.

i was messin around on my guitar, tryin to find a chord sequence i liked, and i played a C chord, followed by an F chord, then a G sharp chord, then a G chord. It sounded really interesting, and kinda familiar, so i was wondering if there were any songs that were farily well known that used that sequence. i tried googling it but i couldnt find anything. i was just curious, cuz if i write a song with this, if there is a well known song with this sequence, ill prolly inadvertently sing the same vocal part without realizing what song its from. I want to avoid anyone thinking i wasnt creative enough to make my own vocal line.plus im just curious anyway XD thanks!

im sixteen. i was at cross country practice with my school today. I ran about 45 minutes, and felt fine, with the exception of a couple times when there wasn't any shade around where i was running. Right after i stopped i was like, "yeah, that run felt great!," until about a minute after i stopped. i started getting lightheaded and dizzy. My vision was also clouded by... i think its called aura? it was like, a bunch of dark, greenish spots in my vision, and it was so severe i could barely see. I've never passed out before but i think thats what was about to happen.

First, was i actually on the verge of passing out? If not, what was it?

Second, how can i avoid letting this happen again?

Its not the first time its happened, but it was much more severe this time. Its never been bad enough for me to worry about it, but i was actually scared this time.
