  • What martial art should I move on to?

Hey I did Japanese Ju-Jitsu between the ages of 7 and 15 and I achieved my blackbelt, got bored and quit. Anyway now I'm 17 and thinking of picking up another martial art. I liked JJJ but to me it seemed a little to complicated to perform most of the arm locks and pins in real life. The next martial art I do, I would like it to have a reasonable focus on fitness and form but still be functional in real life. I really have horrendous flexibility issues at the moment though, so if you could bare that in mind it would be great.

  • I need help with exam technique in Geography OCR GCSE B exam technique?

Okay so I have my final exam in a couple of weeks and have no idea on what exam technique to follow for geography. My teacher has told me that it isn't my knowledge holding me back it is technique. I did my SDME in January and got a mid B although my target is A* and I got full marks in my coursework. So I guess I want general exam technique tips/links for geography papers in general, with a focus on what to do for case studies and how to identify the 2X2 vs 4X1 issue many people experience when answering 4 mark questions. Any technique advice welcome though :)

  • I hurt my arm lifting weights. How can i stop this happening again?

The other day I was lifting 7/8 kilo weights (dumbbells) in each arm, performing bicep curls. I had warmed up and stretched before hand. I had completed 2 sets of 8 when I really started to feel the strain in the 3rd set. on about the 5th rep my right hand just gave up halfway through the rep and I had to struggle to safely lower the weight. As soon as i put the weight down I felt an immediate tightness and I couldn't fully straighten my arm. I also felt a pain in my armpit (possibly a tendon or pectoral) Anyway after about a week my arm feels okay now, but i'm apprehensive about lifting again. How can I prevent this from reoccurring?

P.S I am fairly new to lifting and that time was only my 6th time lifting.

  • Paleo Diet Questions?

My mum is following the the paleo diet to loose weight. I am also following this diet as she cooks most of my meals ( I am 16). I want to gain muscle and I do mainly body weight training with some dumbbell training on the side. After following the diet for a few days I already feel really hungry. Should I cook some pasta, potatoes or other carbs to have with each meal to stop me being hungry?

  • A-level subject choice, what should I Pick?

I have decided on Further Maths, Physics and Music. At my school we are recommended to take an extra A-level if we take Further Maths. The choice is between Geography and English Language. I have been told English Language is easier but is by no means easy and is still considered a good A-level by the Uni's. I currently achieve A* in all of my subjects, but I am not a genius by any means so please weigh up the amount of course work/revision time needed and how this will overlap with my other choices. Also please (this is the most important thing) take into account what the Uni's will be looking for and how my subjects look overall.

I am a Male, 16 and I lose and gain weight (fat) fairly easily, but at the moment I am slim. I am fairly small (5 Foot 9) but have quite broad shoulders. I describe myself as muscularly weak and I find it hard to gain or loose muscle.

  • What music software do i need to be able to create and produce high quality classical music.?

I am not talking about notating music to then be played at a later date, I am talking about producing music. I have used Sibelius at school and i found the sound it gave back to be very wooden. i was thinking of using Finale for writing the music and for selecting the correct soft synths and then run everything through reaper for editing/tweaking and any actual recording that I would do myself. are there any better combinations/ideas? P.S I am thinking of Finale because of it's Human Playback® system.

  • What band song should we do for our GCSE Group Performance?

We have 2 guitarists a bassist and a drummer. We can add vocals if necessary. Every instrument must play to a high degree of difficulty and have room to be expressive. This is obviously a very hard question to answer but I need help! We are due to perform in a week and all of us are A* level students a music and I can assure you that we can handle pieces of a very high difficulty. The piece must be approximately 3-5 minutes long. Thanks :)
