  • EGR Valve on a 1997 Toyota Avalon XLS?

My engine light came on and I went to have it scanned and this is what I got, "EGR System Fault" The ECM has detected too little flow on the EGR System and then it says,

    Probable Cause -

    1-Blocked Passage on EGR System

    2-Failed EGR Valve

    3-EGR Solenoid Faulty

4-Failed EGR Pressure Sensor where Applicable

5-Failed EGR Position Sensor where applicable

So what do you guys think?

How could I tell which one is triggering the light on?

What could I do to take care of this problem and clear the light?

I am going to try cleaning the EGR valve tomorrow and see if that does the trick, maybe so or not but whats your opinions? As much detail as you can give is appreciated.

If I do a factory reset on this someone told me I would go back to Windows 7 Home Premium and now if I went to upgrade to Pro again can I just type in the product key and get it back without paying or would I have to pay again.

  • Remote Car Starters....?

So on my friends 2005 Chevrolet Equinox AWD I asked her what type of remote start keyless entry system she has installed and she had told me the brand was Auto Page and I saw when she remote started the Equinox at night once the truck started all the lights turned on the headlights and the parking lights and after a couple seconds of running the headlights turned off and the parking lights remained on, How does this happen? Is this a feature because I got an Avital system on my car and when I start it only my parking lights will come on or if my headlights do come on they will stay on the whole time.

  • Laptop Battery Life Issues?

I bought a new laptop battery online because my computer told me to consider replacing so I did and on the new one my battery still dies fast not as fast and its on power saver I would say 30 to an hour life, and I have a Compaq Presario CQ50 and when I bought it I see its got Windows 7 Pro on it and what I read online they come with Windows Vista Home Premium on them i'm guessing someone upgraded it, but would that be a reason the laptop dies fast? Even with new battery?

  • I want to know what you guys think about my cars....?

Right now I own a 1997 Toyota Avalon XLS and it just needs a radiator Flush and a new front bumper thats like 80 bucks and I am getting that soon, it has key less entry remote start tinted windows and aftermarket radio and runs like really good, got rust around both back wheel wells looks like its been eating at the car body itself, and some rust starting on bottom of back doors not noticeable yet but I wanted to get a 2002 Ford Focus better on gas but will probably miss the speed of the Toyota because its a 6 cyl and I think the ford is a 4 cyl and if I get the ford I will be getting remote start key less entry and tinted windows too or should I put the money into this car I have now?

  • For my car stereo and amp would this be right?

This is what I read on Ehow.com to make my amp and subs work with my factory radio. Is this right?

    1

If you don't already have one, purchase a car amplifier with speaker-level inputs and also purchase an amp installation kit. These inputs look like regular speaker wire inputs and they will be labeled "speaker-level inputs" or something very similar.

    2

Disconnect your car battery's negative terminal for safety purposes.

    3

Run the red power wire (from your amp installation kit) from the positive terminal on your battery through your car's cabin to the location of the amp. The best location for the amp is usually the trunk. You can mount the amp on a sidewall, on the rear of the back seats or on the floor by using regular 1/2-inch screws to secure it firmly in place. Every amp has pre-drilled mounting screw holes located on each of the four corners of the amp for easier mounting.

    4

Connect your ground wire (from your amp installation kit) to a nut/bolt located on your car's chassis near the location of the amp. You can usually find one on the sidewall behind the carpeting. Make sure to scrape off any visible paint so that the ground wire is in full contact with the metal of your car's chassis, otherwise the amp will not function properly.

    5

    Speaker-level inputs and speaker outputs

Locate your car's rear speakers -- specifically the factory speaker wires running to these speakers. Carefully splice into the positive and negative wire on both the right and left rear speakers using a wire stripper. Now attach a line of speaker wire to each splice and secure with electrical tape. Run this wire back to your amp and hook it into the speaker-level inputs. Make sure to put the right rear positive wire into the right rear positive speaker-level input, and do the same for right rear negative wire until all four of the wires are connected.

    6

Now that your amp is tapped into your car's factory audio system, run speaker wires from the amp's speaker outputs to the speaker(s) or sub-woofer(s) you want the amp to power. Make sure to connect positive to positive and negative to negative.

    7

Connect the red power wire and ground wire you prepped earlier to the proper inputs on your amp. Secure all of the amp's connections tightly using a screwdriver.

    8

Reconnect your car battery, and test your new audio system. If the amp doesn't seem to be working properly, disconnect your battery again and go back and double-check all of your wiring for possible damaged wire, grounded wire or loose connections.
