  • Why don't the Atlanta Hawks get TV time. Their 11-6 and Josh Smith may be the most fun player to watch.?

Last year they were the youngest team that made the playoffs. This year they are better and have a much better bench.

  • How many Mayor's are there in the US. 1 1/2 years away from VP ?

Sara Plain is a VP for the Republican party. Her experience is in question. If being a mayor is good enough for a town of 9,000 and that is good enough to be gov, how many Mayor's are there out there. I need a web site that lists the number of towns that have a mayor. Out of that number was Sara the best choice. Best guess I can find so far is around 25,000

  • Do we need more area to drill? Will gass get cheaper if we do give more area?

The Democrats say there is plenty of oil and land to drill on. The Republicans say the high price for gas is a supply and demand problem. I set off to look for information. I found some interesting charts on the Bakers-Hughes web site. They are a company that Provides products and services to the worldwide oil and gas industry.

Lets go back a few years. from 1973 to 1979 the price per barrel for oil was less than $10.

During that time the drilling count went from around 1,000 to 2,500 drilling rigs. In 1982 oil prices spiked to around $32 because of the Oil embargo. At the same time the drilling rig count peaked at 4,500 rigs. By 1986 the oil prices had dropped to around $32. The rig count had dropped to 1,900 rigs. From 1987 to 2004 oil bounced from $10 to $35 a barrel. On 4-23-1999 the drilling rig count hit a low of 448. In 2005 oil started going up as did the amount of drilling rigs. Oil passed $40 and the rig count went to around 1,500. As of July 11th 2008 more rigs have been brought online. Up to around 1,900 (equal to the 1986 levels). The price for a barrel is now around $135 per barrel.

It seems obvious to me that the oil companies deploy drilling rigs when it is in their own interests. It has nothing to do with national security or helping consumers. I encourage you to check out this web site and do the research yourself and respond. When the first oil crisis hit in the 70's the oil industry ramped up to 4,000 rigs. With our dependence on foreign oil growing from 25% back then to 60+% now, how can anyone explain the rig deployment dropping to 448 in 1999. It seems oil producers are only interested in profits. How can any one guarantee the oil producers will keep producing when prices drop? The history says no.

  • Where do I find a chart that shows Oil company leased land in US?

Is there a web site that shows leased land for oil companys. The areas that are being developed. The leased areas that are non productive. Numbers of dry holes. Projected reserves.

Number of leases in the last 20 years. etc

There is a lot of banter by both sides on wether to open more area to drill. I would like to research this myself. Any good web sites with good charts?

  • We are losing the war. Why?

War is not just having control of countries. Radical Muslims around the world are kicking our ***. Doing it with chump change. We are spending our "way of life" into the ground. We will become like the USSR. A huge military with a poor standard of living for it's people.(They collasped).

In 2007 alone we spent 505 billion on defense. Out of that 505 billion we spent 73 billion for (Research, Development, Test and Evaluation). 46 billion on homeland security. How much do you think the radical Muslims spent.

Our country became dominant through industry fueled by cheap energy. How much did we spend on renewables in 2007? 2 billion. Do you really think we would be at war in Iraq if we weren't worried about oil?

  • Why does Bush keep threatening Iran. Will only increase gas prices.?

War and the threat of war drives instability. Does he want oil prices higher? Do you think he's worried about nukes or just wants to line the pockets of the rich and oil companys
