  • what happens when an employee does not turn in any vacation request form?

Hello, I live in CA and i currently process payroll for a small business of about 85 employees. I just got hired at this new job, but their payroll process seems harder then usual. I'm wondering... if i'm doing payroll and an employee did not go to work that day, and did not turn in any vacation request form to supplement that day, do i not pay them for the day? Or do i have to chase them down and force them to fill out some sort of form?

The person who is showing me how to do their payroll seems to take 3 days to process payroll! that just seems way tooo long. 90% of her time she's correcting puches and asking ppl "hey.. so you didnt come too work on Monday, did you want to get vacation pay or not? I asked her why does she baby the employees so much.. and she said that just the way they've done it. I was under the impression that an employee should be responsible for submitting in forms (vacation, sick, etc) and if they didnt then they don't get paid for that day since they didn't show up. right? is that legal?

    Please help... !!

  • Do i have to give proof to my landlord what my visitation arrangements are?

I live in CA. And i've been living in my apt. complex for about 5 years now. I told the apartment manager that i would like to move into a bigger unit. They told me they could change to me another unit as long as i pass the reapplying process.. After a couple weeks.. they verified my income and everything came out great. Only problem now is that they said that I needed to turn in court documents showing them what my visitation/custody arrangements are with my children. I thought this was pretty weird bc I wasn't asked this when i first moved in..;.; and they knew i was a single mother then. I just want to know if they legally have the right to know this kind of info? do i really need to tell them such personal info in order for me to just move into another unit?

    thanks everyone. :D

  • Should i take legal action?

I'm going to try and summarize my experience at the hospital where my daughter was born:

I gave birth to my daughter two weeks ago. :D Her labor itself went well. After she came out my placenta came out about 10 min later. About 4-5 hrs later i started feeling like i was having contractions all over again.. i called for the nurse/midwife and they told me that if i feel like pushing to go ahead and do so. Sure enough i did and out came out two pieces of placenta. Both the nurse and the midwife seemed confused because according to them my stomach felt firm.

THe next day i was being discharged.. but the nurse said i cannot go home until they make sure i can urinate. So i went ahead and got up from bed in order to try and urinate. The moment i got up from bed i felt this big blob come out of me. I was startled and shocked when i felt how heavy it was. I called for the nurse and sure enough it was another piece of placenta ( the size of my hand)

The nurse said she was going to call the midwife.. but she didn't pick up the call. Hours later i was discharged from the hospital. I assumed everything would be ok.. bc hey they're the professionals they should know what's the right thing to do.. right?

Once i was home i felt really bad cramping and minor contractions.. on the 4th day of being home i tried going to the restroom and the minute i squatted out popped another piece of placenta.

At this i knew something was wrong! i waited for the next morning and made a walk in appt. with an OB doctor. An ultrasound was conducted and she suggested i get a DnC done that same day. (this is the first part of the story)

When i went in for the DnC everything seemed ok.. i was informed it was a fairly easy procedure i was even able to go home the same day. Turns out i ended up in ICU.. both my heart rate and blood pressure were really low.. my heart rate was dropping rapidly from 40-36.

My husband was waiting for me for 3 hours until finally he got up himself and started asking for me. No one ever came to inform him of where i was or what was going on with me. TUrns out they ended calling a cardiologist to perform and EKG on me.. once that came back normal they injected me with something that make my blood pressure go up to 209 and my heart rate was super high. Minutes later i came down with a severe headache.

Once my blood pressure/heart rate was controlled i was sent to a another room. THey gave me morphine for the pain.. and was released from the hospital at 1 am. No one ever came to tell us what had happened to me.. or why my vitals were all out of line. No explanations were given to us by anybody.

I'm considering contacting a lawyer. I honestly feel that this whole problem started the minute i was discharged from the hospital. I don't think that i should've been released. I feel that the staff could''ve and should've done an ultrasound the moment they noticed i was still releasing placenta. If this would've been done they I would've avoided so much pain, and maybe even the DnC.

I'm not sure if i have a case or not.. what do you think?

  • Can i receive unemployment if i had to move to a different city 7 hrs away?

i live in C.A. and my husband has been a student since he was honorably discharged from the military, (back in 2007) turns out that he's done an awesome job at school and was accepted to a UC school here in CA. But the school was 7 hrs away from us... after some hard thinking he chose to attend the University. Due to that i had to quit my job so we can all move out there as a family (him, myself and our two children)... I was scared but i knew that i had to follow him because of our kids. I applied to EDD but was denied... is there a way i can appeal it? I know that me quitting automatically disqualifies me for EDD. But does it make a difference if i appeal and show them that i had no other choice but to quit. Also... my husband is disabled which gave me another reason that i HAD to follow him in order to take care of him. Please help! thanks

  • Should i get my son checked for ADHD?

My son is 3 1/2 and his preschool teacher suggested i get him checked for ADHD, She says he is too active and over the board. I am a little shocked that she would recommend that. i know my son is very active but i thought thats how most 3 year old boys are, and would soon just grow out of it.Should i get him checked? if so what do the doctors actually do to determine if he has ADHD.

im just worried b/c im not very happy with the idea of drugging my 3 year old with medication. Alot of parents who i've spoken to also told me their kids teachers suggested the same thing, but ignored them. And as their kids grew up, they soon grew out of that phase?
