  • Youth Allowance job seeker question?

I'm on youth allowance job seeker but want to go on a holiday to USA that I been saving for a while for. I still haven't decided when I'm going but will look will work up to the date of my departure. Considering I'm going on a holiday and not a reason on their site I understand that I won't be able to get paid because I wouldn't be looking for work.

My question is if I tell centrelink the dates I'll be gone will they be able to stop my payments for that time? and when I arrive back in Australia will I be able to start getting paid again? because I'll start to look for work again. I'm not at all trying to hide anything, I will be completly honest to centrelink, just want to know if it's possible to have payments stop and go again for time away

  • Australian passport question?

I have a question about needing to show a parents birth certificate to get my passport.

I understand that because I was born after 1986, I need to show a parents birth certificate to prove they Australian at the time of my birth

But why? Because on my birth certificate it has my mum and dad name with their birth place, so isn't that enough proof they Australian?

My mum hasn't got a birth certificate, she has to fill out the form to get one before I can apply for my passport and on the birth certificate form it has no where to put her children's births, so how is mums birth certificate going to prove she was australian when I was born?
