I'm an American student currently living in the South-of-France (Monaco, specifically), studying at the International University of Monaco (Business Administration). I LOVE travelling, learning languages, and meeting people from different backgrounds/cultures. I'm currently working as an intern at a hotel in the Kingdom of Jordan,
Blue Screen (BSOD) when using ethernet cable?
I have two laptops (one is a 5 year old Toshiba and the other is a 2 year old Acer.) Both had been working perfectly well until about a month ago when I started getting the dreaded BSOD, first on the Toshiba and then on the Acer a few days later.
My problem lies with the fact that I get the BSOD ONLY when I connect my Ethernet cable. It's virtually impossible for me to pick up a wireless signal due to the mountains in the area, so in order to get Internet on my computer, I must use an Ethernet cable.
Both computers work fine when in Normal mode and the Ethernet cable is not plugged in. I can access the Internet on the Acer with the Ethernet cable plugged in, albeit only in the "Safe Mode -- with Networking" configuration. I get the BSOD screen immediately when connecting the cord to both computers while they're in "Normal" mode; actually I get it under all the different modes (including the "Safe Mode -- with Networking" config) on the Toshiba, rendering it completely useless for trying to access the Internet.
I've tried several different Ethernet cables and keep getting the same thing, so I'm curious as to how this problem has affected both of my computers (and out of nowhere!) and what can be done about it? I've run Malware bytes and no viruses have been detected. I've tried system restores, but neither computer has been able to successfully create a restore point.
I'm definitely not a computer whiz, but also not completely ignorant either, and just wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions about what I can do before seeking professional advice.
Thanks in advance, everyone (and please let me know what other information you may need to help diagnose this problem!)
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks8 years agoLaptop computer doesn't connect to Internet?
I have been experiencing a problem with the Internet on my laptop for the past 3 days. It doesn't connect wirelessly anymore, and I tried connecting with an ethernet cable and that doesn't work either. It says I am connected to the wireless network I normally use, but the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message comes up when I try to go to my homepage and browse other sites. It worked fine just a few days ago, but suddenly stopped working overnight. My other computer still connects with no problems.
Can someone help me out by giving me a step-by-step guide explaining what I need to do? I have unticked the "proxy server" in the LAN settings tab, I have restarted my computer multiple times, and I have even done a system restore twice, all to no avail. What should I do?
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoWill switching my state driving license nullify my outstanding speeding ticket?
I'm 21 and have had my driver's license since April 2007. I recently got my first speeding ticket 2 weeks ago (conveniently just weeks before I have to start paying for my own car insurance!), and was wondering if switching my license to that of another state would mean I don't have to pay the outstanding ticket and if it will carry over to my new license? I have a North Carolina driver's license, but I am currently living in Virginia and was thinking about getting a Virginia driving license if it means my old traffic violation on my NC license will not transfer to my VA license.
Thanks in advance for your help! (And btw, this incident is my only run-in with law enforcement).
6 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoDoes co-signing on a car improve my credit rating?
I purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT today. My credit score is 772, but since I don't have established credit (just one credit card that I haven't used in a year; I don't have any bills), my mom had to be the official signer of the car and I had to co-sign, even though it's my car. So my question is, does being the co-signer help improve my credit and give me the established credit that I need, or will it only improve my mother's credit who actually won't be making any payments on the car?
Thanks in advance for your help!
4 AnswersCredit1 decade agoLukas Podolski's lip scar?
Does anyone know how Lukas Podolski got that scar that runs from his right nostril to his upper lip? I've noticed that his smile is "crooked" (the right side curves up, whereas the left side is "normal"). I was wondering if the scar affected that. He's my favorite footballer, so I was curious to know about that scar above his lip.
