  • Need Help reading old 5.25" 1.2 MB disk?

I have several old 1.2MB 5.25" floppy disk that have old documents I need to read. I have connected an old 5.25" disk drive I had in my closet to my current computer. my main board has a place to connect the old style ribbon cable.I connected the 5.25" drive to it but the system doesn't recognize it. I connected a 3.5" drive to the same cable and it works fine. Does system bios not recognize 5.25" drives anymore. If not is there a place I can take my disk to get it read or copied to a flash drive?

  • Is the distinction between animals and plants caused mainly by the vagaries of perception.?

Animals and plants function differently but are both alive. Humans characterize them as being different but is this caused by perception of the human mind which is sees animals as a type of life it can more easily identify with than say a rose bush?

  • Low mass Red Dwarf star runs out of hydrogen fuel question?

A low mass Red Dwarf has exhausted its fuel supply of hydrogen and doesn't haven near enough mass to start fusing carbon. Is is possible that such a star would have insufficient mass to collapse to the point that atoms would only be held up by electron degeneracy pressure. Would the star not become a white dwarf but simply fade out over time, as a large sphere of helium?

  • What is the best emulator for a 8088 DOS 3.3 PC system?

I have an old program from the late 1980s that I need to run and it won't run from the command prompt window on Windows XP. I don't have the source so I can't recompile it. It has to be a full emulator with the bios of the original system.
