  • Back spasms-Please help soon!?

My scoliosis doesn't help here. I have had bad, bad back spasms from merely twisting a little when I was sitting a couple of weeks ago. That is all it takes, a twist. I cannot take too much Advil because of stomach issues. Is a heating pad better than ice packs? How long should either be used and how often? Please help. I am in pain.

  • Low blood pressure and dizziness--help.?

My blood pressure normally is about 98/60. The only illnesses I have for certain are digestive disorders and PMS Type D (high progesterone to estrogen ratio). My CBC blood panel readings are excellent.

However, I am having major problems standing for more than a few minutes without having dizzy spells and mental weakness. Standing makes depression worse, but that's another story. I cannot walk for very long distances without a profound feeling of mental fatigue and

disorientation. Walking a few feet into a store is a challenge.

I would like to raise my blood pressure to a healthier 120 systolic. My mom's boarder also has low BP and has dizzy spells. Anyone have any ideas how to raise BP?

  • What could be wrong with my bowels?

I thought I had constipation but all the fiber and water doesn't help. I've had alternating diarrhea (short spurts every hour or so) for several months. Now I don't have any bowel movements. I have been taking fiber and drinking water regularly, but it doesn't seem to change anything.

Other symptoms include a heartburn feeling when I eat; a sharp pain in part of my intestine (lower right quadrant) during the afternoons; profound fatigue, massive weight loss (good for me) and dizziness. The fatigue is overwhelming.

I've never had any problems with my bowels ever. This just started

about a few months ago. I have no family history of polyps.

  • Is this fatigue only or heat problem?

A couple of days ago (and another day or two before that) I was working on my garden, setting it up for the summer. I was in the sun for five hours, and noticed that I wasn't sweating. I thought it was fatigue from the end of my monthly cycle, but noticed a few symptoms that lasted for several hours:

Difficulty breathing, hot, but not sweaty skin; extreme lightheadedness

and irritability, inability to cool down, profound tiredness,

and mood changes (depression, anger). I felt very strange, as if I was in another world. I had no clue but told my husband that something was wrong.

I thought I was just tired. Are these symptoms just fatigue related?

I am not an elderly person.

  • Perio recall--really necessary?

I have 1-2 mm pockets with the exception of a pseudo-pocket of 4 mm in the back. No bone loss. I am on a 4 -month recall. My gums are fibrous, since I smoke, but I don't think a perio recall will solve the problem. Plaque? Everyone has plaque and most don't loose their teeth until they are very old.

  • Root canal three days ago and feel very strange.?

I have fever, feelings of malaise, chills, disorientation, throbbing pain in tooth and jaw, extreme fatigue, lack of appetite, and inability to concentrate.

I was given no antibiotics. Add to that a dull headache and an inability to go out in sunlight. My neck is stiffening. Nausea is present. None of these symptoms occurred except the toothache prior to the root canal on #30. There are no signs of a respiratory illness such as a cold or flu. If this what a root canal does to people, this is the last time.

  • Fever after root canal treatment?

I just had a root canal done on #30 yesterday. The throbbing pain I felt before (mild, but bothersome) is still there, with a moderate headache. Plus, I have a fever (don't know how high) and feel chilly. There are no respiratory problems (runny nose, cough) associated with a cold. I was not given any antibiotics.

Is this an indication of the infection spreading or the root canal not done properly? It was done in one visit.

  • Pain after dental injection?

I had local anesthetic injected into my mouth for a crown prep. The dentist went way too fast and the injection hurt quite badly. Two days later (today) the injection site is still hurting (pulsating kind of pain) and is covered by a white, spongy tissue. Before the white sheet there was blood and some scraping of tissue. Is this pain going to go away soon? Is the white spongy tissue just a popped blister or something like it?

Please help. The pain is really bad.

  • Teeth Clenching or Bad Crown Alignment?

The last four nights I have been awakened multiple times with severe pain on molar #30, which is cracked but gave me no pain until I had a crown put on #19 two weeks ago. The pain is excruciating, and only occurs at night. During the day I feel residual pain only--along the jaws, gums, neck, and head. I also feel a bit of pain on my joints as well as dizziness and fatigue.

I have been unable to sleep for more than a few minutes at a time due to the frequent awakenings.

My husband believes I clench my teeth at night. There are no signs of bruxism, but in the past I have been awakened by my jaws opening and closing rapidly.

Is this new pain the result of a bad alignment on #19 (currently a temp awaiting a permanent), or is this the result of teeth clenching that occurs at night and hits #30 especially (the pain that is) because of its cracked filling?

  • Root canal questions.?

I need a root canal on a tooth (#30) that has broken fillings. However, I do not breathe well through my nose (rhinitis) and will suffocate or gasp for air if a dental dam is placed in my mouth. I cannot use nitrous because of the nose blockage. Sinus meds only help a bit. What are my options here? Is a bridge or partial okay?

  • How long does a crown last?

I'm getting a porcelain fused to metal on #19, which I use extensively for chewing. How long will it last in general? Is porcelain alone just as good, or is there documented proof that fused to metal lasts longer?

  • Hoe long does it take for a dental crown first visit?

I know that the tooth needs to be shaped and impressions taken. How long does it take to do it all on the first visit? I have extreme claustrophobia and get panic attacks sitting in the chair too long. It's not dental phobia--it's claustrophobia.

  • Are dental dams necessary for crown and possibly a root canal?

I'd rather not have a dam on. Is this going to affect the quality of the work?

What if the dentist insists? I don't care about swallowing anything. It's just pretty bad claustrophobia that's the cause of not wanting one.
