bedliner instead of paint. What color? using Megaliner?
At the suggestion of a contributor on Yahoo answers, I have decided to apply bed-liner to the bottom cladding of my Subaru Forester, as well as both front and back bumpers. I would appreciate any ideas on what color I should choose. The color of my Forester is Cayenne Red Pearl (looks maroon from one angle, then burnt orange from another). The pillars are a metal gray, as is the back strip where the letters spelling Subaru are located. The cloth interior of my vehicle is beige, but the dash is black (as is the steering wheel, gear shifter, etc..).
Once it's on it's on. You can't paint over it, so I need to do it right the first time.
The shop that I'm taking it to uses a product called "mega liner". I believe it has rubber in the mix and comes in an array of colors. The owner says he is the only one in the area licensed to use the product - it comes from Texas. This shop also is the only one contracted by my local Subaru dealership to do paint & body repair.
I haven't checked with any other shops, but I have heard that Rhinoliner, Line-X and Gator Guard are used at a lot of them.
So, if I could get some feedback on the bedliner brands, especially Megaliner, I would appreciate it. Also, since I can't envision what it would look like, suggestions on what color the bedliner should be.
Thanks.
1 AnswerOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoPainting bottom half of my Subaru?
I have an 05 Subaru Forester that has some serious scratches on one of the door claddings. After having several body shops look at it, I've been told that I have a few options. Obviously, I have to replace the molding. However, if I paint it the current color (Cayenne Red Pearl), I would have to more than likely do all four doors to get it to match precisely. I would love to repaint the whole thing with the Cayenne Red Pearl, but it is very expensive. So here is my question: A lot of Subarus are two-toned. I don't have the L.L. Bean edition, but want to paint the molding/cladding the gray color that typically comes on the L.L. Bean. Would that hurt the value of the car? The paint shop gave me a quote of doing all four doors as well as both front and back bumpers for a little over $500. The gray I'm looking at matches the pillars (I think that is what they are called) by the windows. I think it would look decent, but don't want to make a costly mistake.
Also, if anyone has a two-toned Subaru or knows where I can find the paint code for the color gray that is on the bottom, I would appreciate it. I believe that there are two shades: gray metallic and textured gray. I know the metallic would obviously be shiny with flecks, but I'm not sure what the textured gray looks like.
Anyone who can shed some light on whether this is a bad idea or if I should just go for it, please let me know.
