The Iraq War. If not for oil, then for what?
Please, no lables in your answers. Liberal/Conservative, Democrat/Republican. Lets all work to destroy these labels as they only serve to delude the political discourse.
I didn't ask this to inflame anyone, I just wanted honest opinions.
There were no WMD's. There were no ties to al-Qaeda. While liberating the Iraqi people from Saddam is a nice notion, we have never historically invaded a country solely to liberate its people. And besides, if that were our goal, there are plenty of other places that would have benefitted more from American intervention. So what then?

While its sounds great to pull our flesh and blood soldiers out of the line of fire, something just seems incredibly ominous about the notion of a completely mechanized army. With the hive a.i. research, thousands of robots could act autonomously towards a single goal, with only one person behind the screen directing who and who not to kill, which would be made incredibly easy with the introduction of r.f.i.d. tags. Think about Wolfowitz, Cheney, and Bush Jr. with an army of robots whom only they control, with no accountability, with no human being between them and their goals to leak a story of their wrong doing. Perhaps its a bit of paranoia, but the fact is that these technologies are only a a few decades away. There needs to be some sort of discourse about what direction we allow the military to take these new technologies. Tell me what you think.
