  • Topical itch remedy for dogs?

Just wondering whether any of you wonderful people have any tried and true home itch relief concoctions that you'd be willing to share?

One of my four dogs - she's a small Pekingese/Poodle mix - seems to have a flea allergy. I recently gave them all their monthly flea meds. I usually use Frontline Plus, but for some reason, this time the vet's office gave my husband something called Comfortis instead. Frontline works like a charm. Comfortis...not so much.

The poor girl has chewed at the base of her back so much that she's now got scabs there, which I know have to be attracting whatever fleas are still left following the not so efficient flea medication. I put her in a cone so that she can't actively chew herself, but I know she's still itching like crazy, as she's whining - and she's one of the most stoic little animals I know, so I know it's driving her nuts.

I know that with most flea meds you can't put one over another one, so I really don't want to dose her with Frontline so close to having the other medication. I've added vinegar to her drinking water, which is supposed to help with the fleas, but do you know anything that I can apply to her topically to help her with the itching, or maybe suggest a product I can buy that's worked for you in the past?

    Many thanks.
