  • 2 questions in 1 here: 1 about folk metal, and 1 about acoustic songs?

Q1: i love korn's old stuff especially the songs with bagpipes. swiss folk metal band eluveitie uses it quite a bit also. i like them too. any other good bands that use bagpipes?

Q2: i just made a playlist for rlly good instrumentals with emphasis on acoustic guitars, but i only have in flames - "acoustic medley", of course, "whoracle", and "the jester's dance", also volumes - "gateways". i know eluveitie might have some too, but i'll get to them in a bit. i just wanna know some other songs that fit along the lines of those in flames songs too. any ideas?

  • looking for chaotic and disorganized but technical metal band(s)?

technical AND chaotic BUT NOT progressive (the human abstract, protest the hero, btbam), because i'm looking for mainly disorganized sound. basically bands similar to cyclamen, sikth, the arusha accord, tony danza tapdance extravaganza, within the ruins.

cyclamen (the first minute is mainly what i'm looking for):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVRNQC7MWwY

    the arusha accord:

  • Metal/hardcore question: band(s) similar to this?

I ONLY like the first half of this song, but i can't seem to find a band that just plays like that entirely, only incorporate into their style. i rlly don't like the screamo singing, but just the music (ONLY the first half of the song).

    cyclamen - never ending dream

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVRNQC7MWwY

i know it's kinda mathcore BUT i've alrdy checked out bands of that genre like dillinger escape plan and botch, and that's not what i want. i do NOT JUST want that fast, heavy, chaotic sound, i rlly want that disorganized sound with the insane sweeping like in the first half of the video given.

BASICALLY, i want something kinda like this...

the arush accord - dead to me

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVCpfTtHzzo

that sound that the music is all over the place and disorganized sounding, NOT the aspect that kinda makes them sound like architects (uk).

bands i alrdy like: the human abstract, protest the hero, after the burial, tony danza tapdance extravaganza, august burns red

bands i'm iffy about: within the ruins, wretched, between the buried and me, sikth, psyopus

bands i don't like: dillinger escape plan, botch, converge, beneath the massacre

  • need help finding a technical/math metal band!!!?

i rlly want a technical metal or math metal band (notice NO MATHCORE, i.e. dillinger escape plan, botch, daughters, etc.) that might have within the ruins' technicality with their stop-and-go riffs but not their generic metalcore sound, and with the human abstract's math metal-influenced technical metal sound plus their krazy sweeping too. basically, i want a band like protest the hero BUT MINUS that post-hardcore singing. i've been looking for quite sometime now with no luck. pls help!!!

  • metalheads: need some suggestions for "djent" bands please?

"djent" being the meshuggah sound. i've found a couple, xerath (perfect, but too symphonic), vildhjarta, periphery, textures, mnemonic, etc. but they're either too soft or instrumental, and i don't want clean vox either. i would be just fine with meshuggah, but they can be quite repetitive and kinda slow. pls help!!!

  • what do u think about this year's mayhem fest line up?

    MAIN stage:

    korn

    rob zombie

    lamb of god

    five finger death punch

MAYHEM stage (replacing hot topic stage):

    atreyu

    norma jean

    in this moment

    3 inches of blood

    JAGERMEISTER stage:

    hatebreed

    chimaira

    shadows fall

    winds of plague

MY thoughts are: it's just the same crap as every yr. VRY different subgenres of metal all packed into one great festival. a few i like/love (LOG, atreyu, shads & hatebreed), a few i don't mind (korn, zombie, chimaira & winds of plague) and a few that i rlly don't care for (everyone else), as usual.

  • what about In Flames, anyone?

anyone have any thoughts/feelings/comments on the swedish melodic death metal band, In Flames?

MY thoughts: they get alot bashing about them selling out and being to americanized on the last album "a sense of purpose". i still think that they're still melodic death metal BUT they have changed gradually since reroute to remain into becoming kinda like alternative metal (BUT STILL metal) with melodeath influences. they have kinda lost the original gothenburg sound but i still love them and i think they're still great.

MY fav albums: jester's race, clayman (1st fav and greatest IMO), reroute to remain, come clarity and soundtrack to your escape
