  • Do Toe Shoes have an effect on Achilles Tendon?

I'm interested in buying some Vibram Five-Finger shoes (Toe Shoes), but I was wondering, to anyone who has worn them or has orthopedic experience, if they would affect my Achilles Tendons.

Through High School Football, I weakened my Achilles Tendons on both feet causing bone spurs at the connection to the heel, and also weakened the connection. I had surgery on one of my feet, and at the moment the other one is fine to run on, jump on, and do anything I would normally do, but occasionally through repeated pushing off my toes, I need to rest it. Running normally is fine, as it is only when doing sports like volleyball and basketball in which I jump alot that it acts up.

The question is, for anyone who has worn them, does the reduced support from the shoes have an effect of making it harder on the Achilles tendon when pushing off your toes? Or would the stretching effect of more motion make it easier? Or is it similar to running shoes? Any help would be great, thanks.

  • good free well made games?

  • What about Obama do Republicans hate?

I honestly don't get it, and a solid, answer with evidence would be welcome.Im a moderate who voted for him and I still support him, yet for some reason all my conservative friends are screaming bloody murder about him, yet none of them can come up with any solid evidence to support their claims. Some insight into what they are thinking would be appreciated.

    their only excuses are:

1)"hes putting us into debt with his massive failure of a stimulus bill!" fact is, he passed a $787 billion dollar stimulus bill to get the economy started and to support small companies. They didn't seem to mind the $700 billion bailout that Bush gave to companies that failed under the free market system, (which is contradictory to the capitalist, "trickle down economics" theory.) Another truth, if someone even takes a high school economics course, they will realise that a stimulus package is what is needed to jumpstart the economy.

    2) they say that despite his promises to create jobs, he has developed none. What many dont realize is that there is only two ways to create jobs in our capitalist system. one way is to order large amounts of product from companies and do large scale work projects. This is what we did in the great depression, and it worked, but would not work well today, because of the development of robotics and outsourcing to other countries in the field of manufacturing. The other way is to develop incentives to businessess to help them grow and hire more workers. Small businesses account for 65% of the jobs (mostly because large firms relocate many jobs to other countries), but have been reluctant to hire because of the state of our economy. All Obama can do is try to convince them to hire, but he cannot force them to give jobs.

    3) "the Health Care Bill is in a gridlock!!" Yes it is. he can't help it. the bill hasnt been reformed since the great depression, and no one wants to work across the aisle to fix it. the only way to fix that is for both democrats and republicans to work together. both sides are at fault here.

    4) "He hasn't done anything!" or "He's done too much and screwed us over!" both are wrong. he is delving into deep, complicated issues which will be hard to resolve, so progress has come slowly. but people also cant say hes screwing us over because congress is too gridlocked to fully do anything that conservatives can hate.

    5) "He is a Muslim", or "He's black" or "He isnt a US Citizen" Most people are not like this, and I usually dont have to talk to people who have this criticism. if you feel this is an issue, or even remotely true, then please dont respond to this question.

6)"He loves gays!" or "he's a baby killer!" these are controvercial subjects, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. While you may not have voted for him for these reasons, they aren't enough to say he is a terrible president, especially because he hasnt enacted any major legislation on the subjects. this is not a debate class so i'm not going to argue with anyone on this point.

again, im not trying to start a war. but a well educated response, with evidence to back it up would really help me learn.

  • problem stringing my guitar?

I had to restring my acoustic guitar, and everything was going fine (I started with the high E string, but whatever) until I got to my low E string. I put the new one in the peg, but for the life of me the peg will not stay in place. Is this normal? this is the first time I have restringed a guitar. is something damaged? I looked at the peg and it didnt semm damaged, and I can put it into the guitar without the string and it will hold, but with the string it wont stay in when I pull on the string. if there are any tricks to this I would love to know.

  • having trouble with virus?

After noticing my roommate took my computer to look at porn, my browser started acting funny and freezing.

I scanned it with mcafee, and almost immediately, it said that there was activity in the registry and it might be a rootkit, and suggested that I use either Mcafee Pre-scan or run the antivirus again in safe mode. I googled pre-scan but couldnt find out even what it was, let alone a legitimate place to download it. I ran mcafee in safe mode and it didnt find anything.

I then ran AVG free, and it didnt find anything but tracking cookies.

I then ran Sophos anti-rootkit and it found a lot of hidden programs but no clear threats (they were files in my game folders and such, and didnt suggest I do anything).

I had been using mozilla, so I uninstalled it, but internet explorer kept freezing too. At the moment I am using safari, and it has been working so far.

I ran ad-aware free and it didnt find anything but a couple more tracking cookies.

At this point im going to try hijackthis, but at this point, im not possitive if I have one. I am running Windows xp on bootcamp on a mac, so If it comes down to it i can wipe my hard drive without losing anything too important, but I would prefer not to because I have games on it. any help would be appreciated

  • should I be worried about a virus?

    I have a macbook pro

yesterday, I was browsing the internet and came upon a site that was obviously an attack site (the window was bouncing from one side of the screen to the other) when I tried to close the window, a popup came up (i dont remember what it said) not thinking I clicked ok. when I tried to quit safari, the same popup came up. I ended up force quitting safari. now, however, sometimes safari will get that spinning rainbow wheel and freeze. If this were a windows, I would be sure its a virus, but since it is a mac, should I be worried? I dont have any microsoft office things on it.

  • Share neverwinter nights 2 patches?

My cousin and i wanted to play neverwinter nights 2 on the lan. he just bought it and is installing it. We both have Mask of the Betrayer expansions. the problem is, his internet has a bandwidth limit of about 500 megabytes, while mine is fully patched. I am assuming two different patch versions cannot play the campaign together, but i was wondering if there is a way to share the patch from my computer to his. I downloaded the patches using the NWN2 updater, and I am at his house so I cannot download the patches manually. If there is a way, where would I find the patch files?.

  • My computer shuts down on startup?

I built a new computer, and now when it starts up, after a short time,(about 30 seconds to one minute usually) everything loses power:fans, hdd, cd drive, etc. Until then everything works fine. Something must be overheating because if i start it up immediately after that, it shuts off again after 5-10 seconds, less each time. It is not the power supply because I replaced the one that I had. I had an alienware computer and I used the case from that, which worked fine. Also, I don't know if it is related, but my moniter takes a while (5+ seconds) to recognise my computer and show anything onscreen. sometimes nothing happens at all(my moniter worked fine before)I havent installed the OS because my computer won't last long enough to do anything.
