  • Buying a car on Ebay?

I've recently won a bid for a car on Ebay, but I'm wondering if you still get offered the 'protection' you do when you buy other products on ebay.

I rarely buy items on ebay as it is, as when I have the tend to be of poor quality or not as described.

I haven't paid for the item yet, as I want to view the car. The seller said he'd prefer cash, but I insisted to go through PayPal. I will do a HPI check on the vehicle later.

I'm just worried in case I drive the vehicle off and something goes wrong.

The seller has been upfront and honest about everything

  • Bank Fraud?

My girlfriend ordered some products off the internet. She paid £2.95 for a free trial and then today she checked her account and they had taken a further £79 that had been taken out of her account. She went into the bank and they explained that the money hadn't left her account and was 'pending'. They also stated that they couldn't reverse the transaction.

Apparently somewhere deep within the T&C's it states that she will be charged the 'promotional rate' and the bank operator said that this is legal as they've stated this in their T&C's.

I've had a look on the internet and people who also bought items of this website, managed to get their money back, but the bank said that they couldn't reverse the transaction. Which I find odd as something similar happened to myself, and I got all my money back.

Would there be a reason to why they said they can't give her the money back? And was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and managed to get their money back.

We have two small children so £79 is quite a lot of money to us.

    Thanks

  • How to get images and videos off Sony Xperia S with cracked screen.?

My partner broke her phone today, so she went out and bought a new phone. The problem is all her pictures are on there of our new born baby and she wants to get them off.

As she cracked the screen, we can't put in her password to unlock the phone - so I can't transfer the files over.

Because the phone is like an Iphone where the battery and internal memory are locked, I'm wondering if there's another way round it.

Cheers for any help or tips.

  • If my phone was off for 2 weeks...?

If my phone was off for 2 weeks, do I still get the text messages and calls that were sent in that week? My phone was off for just over 2 weeks and I haven't received any of the texts. Cheers

  • What size nails do I need...?

I was just wondering what size nails do I need to put two guitar brackets up on my chimney breast wall. They'll each be holding one electric guitar and one bass guitar and they'll be going up on a solid brick wall. Each guitar bracket has 3 holes. I know how to put the guitars up etc, just not 100% sure on the size nails I need. Cheers

  • Phone Insurance Claim.?

I made a claim for water damage on my phone insurance last week - the phone still kind of worked so I carried on using it. I'm supposed to send the phone off tomorrow, and today when it was on charge I accidentally dropped the phone and broke the charge port...Do you think they'll still fix the phone? Or do I need to call them up and let them know about the extra damage? Cheers.

  • My HTC Desire is permanently stuck in safe mode.?

I managed to get my phone wet over the weekend and the volume down button and search button have stopped working. Because of this, my phone boots up in safe mode as it detects a hardware problem. I have searched all over the internet to find a solution but haven't really come up with one as of yet. I've tried holding menu button and then powering the phone on and no look. So I'm wondering if there's a way to bypass safe mode or would it just be better to go through my insurance?

    Cheers in advance.

  • I have a cheque from T-Mobile?

Basically, I was sorting through some letters yesterday and came across some unopened letters (if I know it's a phone bill I won't open it) but I was opening all my old letters to see which ones were worth keeping and which ones were junk.

I found a cheque in one for £11.36 dated 27.04.2009....I'm no longer with T-mobile, but was wondering if I wrote them a letter with the old cheque do you think they will send me a new one out? £11.36 isn't a lot of money I know, but it's principal as they would chase you for that amount till your dead. Besides that would pay for lunch for 2 days.

    Cheers

  • What's a good healthy lunch to eat?

Running short on some ideas here. I eat pretty much everything except egg. Not too sure what to eat. Normally I just eat a sandwich or fruit, but want something different. I have access to cooker/microwaves etc. I want something healthy and something that will last me till a few hours.

Pretty weird that I can't think really as it's usually me writing out dietary plans for my friends.

    Cheers guys.

  • My Dad's African Grey flew out the back door, do they have instinct to find their way back?

My Dad's friend left the back door open, and obviously the parrot flew out. I was just wondering if the parrot will find its way home? It's been gone for about an hour now. I know if it doesn't come back by tonight it probably will be dead as the weather at the moment is around -3 on the night.

Does anyone know anywhere where it might 'settle' there's a mixture of trees and houses around my area.

    Cheers in advance guys.

  • My Mom wants to buy the Amazon Kindle and I...?

Was just wondering first of all is it worth buying one? Personally I've tried reading books on my laptop and could never really get into the book as I don't think it's the same. But maybe it being a hand held device it will be more like a 'book' feeling.

Also I have PDF's and ebooks on my laptop that I downloaded from my uni website (No copy right involved as they're accessible to anyone) I was just wondering if I could place them on the kindle? I know it says it supports ebooks and PDF's but not too sure if you'll still be able to read it like a normal book.

I was also wondering if there's a website that has a list of all the books that you can buy for the kindle. Cheers in advance :)

  • Bought a new mouse off play.com?

And received it today, and it doesn't work...Every button works except the movement...Which is the whole point of a mouse really...I'm pretty sure it's not a software problem as it said the driver had successfully installed and the laser at the bottom of the mouse isn't emitting any light (I know some mouses don't) But I don't know if this is a faulty mouse or if it's another problem.

I've already let play.com know about the problem. Cheers in advance guys.

  • I'm with Sky broadband and It says I get up to 20MB?

But after getting painfully slow downloads for game updates I decided to check it out...

Here's the message that I recieved:

Your Sky Broadband & Speed Estimate

You have Sky Broadband Unlimited which offers a maximum download speed of up to 20Mb

The estimate provided to you at purchase for the maximum download speed your line can support was 0.5Mb.

I also found one saying the maximum download speed is 2mb...Does any one know where I stand with this? Or how to improve my connection? Cheers guys.

  • I was caught downloading...?

Well wasn't actually me, but my mom got a letter in the door saying that someone on the premises had downloaded a film and the company 'Media C.A.T limited' are saying that she has to pay £495 compensation. Well until now her wireless network was unsecured so anybody could access her internet - She didn't realise about secured and unsecured networks and even if she did she wouldn't even know where to start. I know that neither my dad or my mom downloaded a film as they only use the laptop for work etc.

But atm I don't know what they should do. I understand that it's there internet so they're responsible for it, but they honestly didn't realize the mistake. Also the company I think are maybe trying to use intimidation in the letters by saying that if they don't pay within the 21 days they're going to send it to debt collectors to recover the balance with no actual date on the letters. They are saying that the company that they are representing will only offer this £495 this one time after that they will want more. There is of course a lot more to the letters. But now I don’t know what to do. A few people at work have said to ignore it as they’re just trying to scare her into paying the money. But I don’t know what is best and £500 is a lot of money just for one film any way!

    Cheers guys.
