    Why is it that everyone thinks that they need an ultra high powered rifle to take big game?

    The minimum for big game in Colorado is An .24dia. 85grain bullet with 1000ftlbs of energy at 100 yards.

    I use a 270win 140grain at 2700fps with 1800ftlbs of force at 100yards. It still causes massive damage to all origins in the chest cavity of large elk and even penetrates all the way through without destroying too much meat. I feel that much more than that would be overkill.

    What are your views in this?
