Xbox 360 hard drive compatibility?
My Xbox 360 I bought in 2007 recently got the Red Ring of Death among other problems, and I am considering buying a new console to replace it. However, I've heard that the older hard drives are not compatible with newer consoles, and my 12 gig hard drive does not work with my friend's 360. Is this true for all the newer consoles, and if so, how else can I transfer my data? Do portable memory units work, or will that raise complications?
2 AnswersXbox1 decade agoHow can I save my data after my Xbox 360 has had the Red Ring of Death?
Just today, my Xbox received the Red Ring of Death, and I am thinking of buying a new console to replace it rather than having it repaired. If I understand correctly, I know I can recover my gamertag to save my gamerscore and such as well as being able to re-download for free, but was wondering what the best way (if there is one) to get my game save files back would be. My hard drive is still fine, but I bought the system back in 2007 and am not sure if it would work with a newer console still.
