I'm going to buy my girlfriend a router for Christmas.

She has a pretty crappy roommate who consistently kicks her off the internet in their room. We'll be on Skype or something and suddenly the connection goes dark because her room-mate wants to chat or whatever. She'll just pull the plug on us!

I've had enough of it and want to give her a router. But more than that, I want one that will give her a higher percentage of the connection, so that when I set it up, her computer gets a higher percentage of the bandwidth available.

Any recommendations?

Me and my friends just formed a "band"

The problem is, is it's my first band, and while I believe I'm good enough to hold my own as a guitarist, I don't necessarily know what makes the music sound the way it should. I know how to play, just not how to create.

Every riff I come up with sounds like something like a punk song, or something that's just too catchy to be in a metal song. When I try to follow the Metallica formula (lots of E rhythm picking with chords to break it up) it just sounds pretty bland and bad.

What about lyrics? I don't know - what is it that I'm missing?! It's driving me crazy! We're shooting for a Lamb of God style sound, heavy, and slightly tech. Think hardcore but without all the breakdowns and the clean singing.

Let me explain -

Nine Inch Nails just went on tour. I have been a die-hard Nine Inch Nails fan since the seventh grade - and I've never had the opportunity to see them live, though they've come through Chicago a good six times since then. The show is on my birthday, of all days. However - I had school the day they went on sale, and since my girlfriend was home, She volunteered to buy the five tickets for us and some friends. Here's the problem. She clicked "Print-At-Home."

It may seem like I'm making a big deal about it - but for me, this show is something that is absolutely huge. I want to know if it's possible to get a second ticket mailed to me to keep at home with the rest of my Nine Inch Nails memorabilia. (seriously. I own bootlegs DVDs, Posters, Rob Sheridan 08 L.I.T.S. Prints. I even have an original copy of the Broken Video, among other stuff.)

I couldn't even think of a better way to hit 18.

Could I call up Live Nation and ask them to send me a single ticket even though we already did the "print-at-home" thing?

So i just found out (well...not really) about Lamb of Gods tour with KillSwitch Engage, Devildriver and Soilwork. Ive liked Lamb of God and Devildriver for a long time so I've got two questions for you guys :)

firstly - the headlining slot is going to be switched up at each show, one day LoG, one day KSE until the end of the tour. Does anyone know which is going to be headlining in Chicago (the 7th show)

not that it matters but I've never really "liked" KSE for the most part - so id rather end the night with hearing black label ;)

Also.

does anyone know anything about Soilwork? or wanna recommend any killswitch and or soilwork songs to check out? (i hate going to shows and not know anything about the bands on stage)

okay. my girlfriend moved to Canada recently, so ive been using my phone to keep in contact with her till i can go visit her in August...but theres a problem :(

The danm cell phone keeps going out (my room is in the basement)....and going upstairs isnt possible because i have a large family. Outside doesnt work either (though reception is better) because my mom is a total GRRR about all the gangs and **** around....whatever

so:

is it at ALL physically possible to boost my cell phone reception downstairs? (im using an LG phone from Cingular [which by the way is **** on its own])

please. if anyone can help me, im forever in your debt.

keep in mind, im 16, so it cant be more than what my parents are willing to shell out added onto my own job, but i am, in fac, willing to spend every dime i have on it.
