If someone were to raid a box of old photographs and post them to the internet (intentions notwithstanding) without the express permission of the people in the photographs, is that legal? Could that person be made to remove them? Is there any legal recourse if this person refuses to remove the images posted?

I'm trying to convert .avi to 3gp. I'm using the free version of Prism. It works, but the converted video has no video, only audio. On the support page it says that I need the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.5.3, but it's .exe and I would need a .dmg (I have a PowerBook G4 Aluminum) to install the codec. Does anyone know if there is a Mac version or an equivalent version to solve the problem? (No "personal" technical support for free users of Prism, only the FAQ page)

I've found a couple, but the installers are all .exe (PC, self executable) and I'd need a .dmg (disk image) to install (I have a G4 aluminum). I downloaded the iSkysoft Video Converter and while it did "convert" the .avi to 3gp, there was only sound, no picture, in the conversion. I downloaded Prism but can't load a .avi file. I'd like to be able to watch the movies I have on my LG Voyager, but it seems to only play 3gp or .plt files. (No, LG Voyagaer software isn't Mac compatible, but as a workaround you can load files directly to a memory card from the laptop/desktop and use the loaded memory card in the phone - I've tried this on random 3gp files and it works.)

I'm a HUGE sci-fi/horror fan (but NOT slashers, they're predictable and tend to be boring - at least to me). I recently watched, "Rec," (this is the movie that the recently-released US movie, "The Signal," is based upon) as a co-worker told me that it was so scary and so disturbing that people were leaving the theatre because they couldn't take it. While I enjoyed it (it was really great fun), I wouldn't call it scary. I want something that disturbs, shocks, makes your stomach drop... I've even watched the "gore for gore's sake" zombie/cannibal movies.

So as not to scare anyone -

I'm not a psycho- or sociopath; I'd really just like to see something original that lives up to the genre name!

I recently bought a Dell Latitude laptop (~6-7yo). It has a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. It came with Windows 98NT. When I upgraded it to Windows XP Professional, the DVD drive was no longer recognized and it's "listed" as a CD-RW drive and I am no longer able to view DVDs. (Yes, I was able to view DVDs before I upgraded the OS.)

I've searched all over the net and only come up with blogs and articles listing the same few (SSI, tax exemptions, pension rollovers, etc).

Does any one know where I can find a complete list? (References to books are fine - I work at a University and have access to a law library.)

Well, not just me, but everyone else in my financial bracket (and a little higher and lower)? I am 34 years old and make $35K (USD) a year. I don't own a home. I have a car. I have pets. I have a partner (who makes roughly the same). One quarter of my paycheck goes to taxes. Another quarter goes to my students loans. I get less than half of what I bust my @$$ for week in and week out.

WHY should we bail out the ones responsible? Why aren't they losing their jobs and being replaced with people who are willing and able to do their jobs for a reasonable paycheck (as opposed to millions of dollars a year plus bonuses even when they screw up).

Seriously, someone tell me how this will affect me - there are no loans in my future, I'm not planning on buying a vehicle house or having children, and I'm not in danger of losing my job (unless the Republicans stay in office and McCain actually does freeze spending and eliminate the source of my income - NIH funding to universities which does not fall under war, veterans or entitlements) - please.

I thought it was for a transfer wire (ex., to upload pictures or video taken with the phone to your computer or to download music from your computer to your phone). My housemate tried to buy one at the Verizon Wireless outlet, but the sales rep told her that she can't use a transfer wire because she doesn't have a memory card. Huh?? There's no memory card slot on the phone. Why would they include a Trans Flash port on a phone without a memory card slot if they only work with memory cards?

And please don't tell me Verizon's stupid, I already know that! lol

My housemate showed signs of pink eye yesterday; slight swelling and discharge, very red sclera, left eye only. A few days before she was complaining about a pain over her mastoid process, which was red and swollen, but had gone away by the time she was evidencing the pink eye symptoms. Today, she awoke with extreme abdominal cramping followed by vomiting and diarrhea. She also seems to have a low-grade fever and the sweats. There do not seem to be any upper respiratory symptoms.

Could this be an adenovirus manifesting in different locations? A coincidental case of pink eye and stomach flu? I dont' think it's food poisoning - we ate the same things yesterday and I'm absolutely fine (except for the raw hands from almost constant washing).

Any thoughts (other than go to the doctor - they can't get her in until tomorrow)?

I really like Yahoo! Answers. I think it's a great idea. But WHY, when it is apparent that so many of the questions asked are by students trying to get their homework done for them, do people answer these questions? Why not just direct them to the text book or give them the appropriate formula to solve an equation instead of giving the answer? How does this help them in their supposed education?
